A pleasant stay converted into nighmare
Very pathetic experience. The Hotel first dishonored the booking confirmed through Hotel.com. My son was forced to wait for few hours for room against confirmed booking and it was given only after the intervention of Hotel.com from India as local support at Dubai is not available. The guest has to argue for Breakfast for which charges are included in the tariff. A big question mark of checkout time. As per Hotel.com , the check out time at hotel is 1500 hours whereas at Dubai, the Hotel Desk ask its guests to vacate the room at 1200 hours. Very painful and pathetic stay and not much help is available from Hotel.com.

Problem the first night
First night at around 3 am the guys from next door started knowing our door that was soooo scary ..we cld the security and the night manager ..he then changed our room . The staff is very pleasant .. Sply asad at the front desk he was very sweet and helpful

Very bad hotel Nose all the night from the night club you cant sleep Breakfast was desaster as they have problem this is why they send us to an indian rest out side the hotel which was dirty The key was not working for 2 days No hot water in the room

After confirm reservation no room available
I made online reservation through Expedia,got the confirmation but when I went to hotel ,reception staff inform me that Expedia has cancelled my booking because I not paid, since I was knowing these is lie, so I had shown confirmation to staff and show him that I have to pay at hotel after that staff inform me that we are fully booked , and help is done by them its worst experience by Expedia, and by hotel

Book you room through web-sites, you will get just 4 walls to stay, Generally Hotel never ask your comfort, in 6 days of stay , i never get a room with good view out-side. This is worst with online system

Not good at all for business persons and families, 2 bars and a night club + prostitutes , pimps, yelling securities, etc. Wow !!!!!!!! No sleeping during the nights because of horrifying noise of band, drum and extra loud music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible internet. Bad promising management and staff.

small things that could make a difference are the absence of tea/coffee making options in the room, weak wifi due to routers being placed in the passage from the rooms.. Staff were courteous but one guy (Ali) was excellent.. the pubs are pricy and serve a different purpose altogether but the downside is, guests not allowed in the rooms.. I had read about the noise and asked for higher floors and got a room on the top floor.. perfect to cut out the noise completely!! Whatever little the hotel lacks is made up by the Location, it is a great value for money proposition!!

Overbooking
I booked over a month before my stay. I received a confirmation from expedia. On the day i arrived early and was told by the hotel that the room will be ready after 1pm as per their check in policy and given a confirmation. When i returned to the hotel at 6pm i was told my booking had been cancelled. it still appeared on the Expedia site as confirmed. After spending 3 hours arguing with the hotel staff and calling expedia on a very long, long distance call , the hotel finally accepted to book me into another hotel and pay for it.

York Hotel lack of service
York Hotel had failed to make our reservation, even though we had booked months earlier, and had no rooms available. They seemed relatively unconcerned about this. We arrived at 1am and then had to wait for approximately 2 hours for them to find us an alternative hotel nearby. We eventually spent the first night at another hotel and then had to move back to the York for our second night. They did not seem unduly worried by their oversight and the onus was on us to make them do something and arrange our second night, plus all the moves. They charged the same price we originally were quoted despite all our problems and upheavals. We would not stay there again. Their customer service was non-existent.

Every aspect of the stay was bad except location
I arrived at the hotel a couple of hours before check in time. To my shock people were arguing with the hotel staff because the rooms were over booked and the hotel was refusing bookings on the pretext that they weren't confirmed. On being handed over the access card to the room, I went upstairs to freshen up. I later called the reception for the WiFi password. The reception was naming a router which could not be traced by any of the 3 devices that I had. I cannot believe that a 3 star hotel can afford to give the excuse that the WiFi isn't working for all the 3 days that I stayed there. I once accidentally forgot my key card in the room and went down to the reception to ask them to unlock my room for me. To my surprise nobody came up to open the room for 15 minutes despite going down and requesting twice. There are 4 night clubs in the hotel that are open till 3am. The crowd is pathetic and the music is way too loud and can even be heard in the rooms on the lower floors. Overall there was a lot of mismanagement and the staff at the reception were shrewd. They ignored customers on pretext of being on the phone for several minutes despite seeing that a customer is waiting to talk to them. There was mostly just one person at the reception and even though he was over burdened with work, he had little or no assistance. I would not stay there again or recommend the hotel to anyone.

Good Budget Hotel
Room was spacious. Room had a balcony. A little dated but super clean and everything worked. Steps from metro and an easy walk to waterfront attractions. Many tv channels and good wifi. There is noise from onsite clubs. My room was on 6th floor and could hear the base noise a little. Ask for higher floor if noise is an issue. If I go to Dubai again would not hesitate to stay here again as it is very good value for money.

Location is all it has
It's right outside al Fahid station which is super convenient. I was able to walk to the souks north of here which was also nice but the hotel itself is in bad shape. It smells of smoke even in non smoking rooms. The beds don't have fitted sheets just unfitted sheets tucked under the mattress. The mattress is barely a mattress to be honest. The shower has only a hand held piece which you have to use with hand because it sits in the holder wayyyy too high up for anyone to use. The walls are very thin so sound travels right through. I was awoken in the middle of the night to the room next door playing music really loud. Service also not great. I asked for a power adapter and to find out if breakfast was included wth my stay the first night and never heard back. Next day I asked for an extra towel and water bottle but never got either. Person on phone almost sounded annoyed to hear from me

Everyday except on Saturday due to Islamic Holiday It is very noisy as the music is on downstairs in the bars and asian dance etc so impossible to sleep. Not for family at all. Hookers and punters around at night.

Though I cancelled the old booking which has been made at higher cost and the latest booking was at lower cost, the hotel charged higher rate. It could be due to communication gap between Expedia and York or the hotel would like to charge higher.

1.)We like the ambience of the room, we like the smell when we entered. 2.) bed size is ok and comfortable and soft. 3.)But only 2 pillows. 4.)with bed bugs (very disgusting) 5.) no coffee or tea for free, not like other hotels that they put for hot drinks even kettle. 6.) we are thinking if we will come back again??? Not sure!

the hotel has character,the staff are wonderful,a special mention to Infram the guy who cleaned the rooms was a wonderful person SO HELPFUL,THE RECEPTION STAFF SHOAIB AND MAMOON ARE SO HELPFUL AND WONDERFUL PEOPLE,AS ARE BABA ASIF+ANAS+ALI+REMIA.THEY HAVE A GREAT NIGHT CLUB AT HOTEL + 2 INDIAN CLUBS,THE SECURITY IS TOP NOTCH AT THIS HOTEL AS I EXPERIENCED THEM AT WORK,VERY PROFESSIONAL,I WOULD ALWAYS STAY AT THE YORK WHEN I GO TO DUBAI,AND YOU WONT BREAK THE BANK TO STAY THEIR,A WONDERFUL 7 DAYS FULL OF LIFE AND TERRIFIC STAFF

Hotel pictures are miss leading pool area has a cover over it not outdoors, there is no bus service to beach as stated on hotel amenities; and as the bar area even do staff very pleasant I'll not bring my wife into it.

check into hotel on Dec 19, room AC not working, instead of moving to new room had too wait 1hr for maintenace to fix it. club beneath hotel has loud music so if your looking to have rest this is not the hotel. tried to check out early and refunded for the last 2 days but was not accomendated.

My experience was not really a good one. I really wanted my vacation to be over after one night to be honest. I arrived at the hotel early in the morning and was immediately given a room which was great because check-in was after two. I was informed however I would have to pay for breakfast because I arrived early. I then gave the receptionist my passport do a copy could be made and was told i could get it back in a few hours. Red Flag number 2! I waited for my passport and was escorted to my room which was on the 7th floor. I immediately noticed the carpet was being repaired or needed repairing because it was overlapping in the middle of the aisle. I went to my room which was fine. I placed the do not disturb sign on the door because I just flew in the country was woke up to a call from the front desk asking if I need my room cleaned! Now that I am up I decided to connect to the internet which as a problem during my three day stay as I had to call to the front desk which was not always an easy task. This was definitely the last time at this hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Hotel York International is a superb hotel, perfectly located in the heart of the shopping area in Dubai. The rooms are spacious, service is excellent and hotel includes bars and restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay at the York International and would definitely recommend it
