Coton Manor Gardens

Coton Manor Gardens

Soak up the serenity and beauty of this 17th-century manor house and its magnificent formal gardens, bluebell wood and wildflower meadow.

Spend some time breathing in the fragrant scent of the colorful blooms of Coton Manor Gardens. Forming the backdrop of the picturesque manor, the gardens are filled with vivid ornamental gardens which change throughout the seasons.

Coton Manor Gardens was originally designed in the 1920s by the grandparents of the current owner of the property. Since then, two successive generations have added to the design, creating a floral wonderland. Feel the tranquility as you wander along the perfectly manicured paths, across terraces and past garden walls. Keep watch for the resident flamingos as you go.

The garden is designed to show off each new season. Visit at different times of the year and you will experience a totally different scene. Roses are a true highlight and weave their way throughout the borders and gardens.

Be sure to explore the herb garden, breathing in its strong aromas, as well as the kitchen garden with its vegetables.

There are borders of every color to discover, a delightful water garden and an impressive acacia border.

Beyond the pretty formal gardens, you will find a wilder side to Coton Manor. Wildflower meadows are in full bloom in spring and summer, while the bluebell wood is a blaze of purple and blue in late April. Check for special seasonal opening hours that give visitors extra chances to wander through the blanket of bluebells.

Budding gardeners can sign up for one of Coton Manor’s Garden School courses. Learn the skills of horticulture from top experts amid the most inspiring setting. Contact the Garden School for a full schedule of courses for the year ahead.

Coton Manor Gardens are located 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Northampton. A car is necessary to reach the property, but there is plenty of parking available.

The gardens are open from Easter through to the end of September during the afternoons only. There is an additional opening session for the bluebells at the end of February. Take advantage of season tickets and visit as many times as you wish in the year.
