Hotels near City Museum for Contemporary Art

We stayed overnight and really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is spotless clean, the staff very helpful with directions and suggestions, lots of choice on the help yourself breakfast, we booked the pool and sauna area out just for our small group at a nominal charge which worked well. Made such a change to stay in a non-chain hotel which was quirky while spotless. Rooms were so much bigger than your regulation hotel and cost less. We had a great time and would highly recommend

Tram is right in front of hotel. Parking lot is very tight and small, but street parking is fairly available and cheaper than the lot. We used it as a base to visit several other cities, so the fact it was not central was not a factor. The breakfast on the top floor with views of the city is excellent.

Nancy the receptionist was very helpful and friendly and made us very welcome. Room was a little warm but we just opened the window. Great hotel with good transport links to Gent centre by walking or tram.

Had a very enjoyable 4 night stay in Ghent. Carlton Hotel is not far from the railway station (but not so close that there is any noise) so it is very easy to hop onto a train to Antwerp or Bruges, trains run frequently. There is a tram stop a short distance from the hotel and they go to and from the historical centre of Ghent every 10 mins or so. It is an easy 20 min walk, past the park and beside the canal if you prefer. The advantage of staying just a little out of town is that you get to see places that you wouldn't otherwise explore. The room we had was very spacious with two comfortable chairs and a very comfortable king size bed, tea and coffee making facilities and fridge. It is a small thing but it did get a bit chilly in the evenings, I am sure if we had brought this to the attention of the managers, they would have rectified this for us. The best thing that we experienced was the warm welcome and positive attitude of the the two young owners Steven and Jeffery. They quickly oriented us on arrival providing us with car parking facilities, tram tickets, maps and suggestions of places to eat. Ghent is a beautiful city to enjoy, just be sure to book your restaurant table during the day, as even in February it was hard to get a table as many young Ghent people seem to eat out.

No special experience

Had a fantastic weekend stay (3 nights) at this lovely boutique hotel. In a quiet side street outside the main centre of Ghent but only about 15 minutes walk to the historic centre past various shops/restaurants/cafes and there is also a bus/tram stop right at the end of the road so like us, once you've walked your socks off round the amazing city of Ghent you can take the lazy option to get back to hotel (Getting a 'linecard' for 10euros at a main tram/bus stop is the most economical). Hotel interior is amazing and our room (2nd floor) was beautiful and very comfortable. Wondered if we'd miss not having a cooked breakfast but there was plenty of choice (inc. boiled eggs) to stoke you up for the day exploring. Staff always on hand to answer questions and to be greeted with a welcome drink as they explained the area was a nice touch - as were the sweetie jars in the hallway to dip into on your way back to your room after an exhausting day exploring this amazing city. Thoroughly recommend.

Extremely clean, easy to find, great location. Kinda expensive, but really nice.

We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist called Jenny who directed us into the hotel's car park (only big enough for three cars, so book ahead. 10 euro per night) Hotel and room very clean and tidy. Nicely decorated room and recently re-fitted en suite bathroom with sunken Villeroy & Boch bath, separate shower etc. We had the family room big enough for two adults and two children. We had large comfortable double and children had two comfortable single beds. A door separates children's room from main room. Nice and quiet at night. The room rate did not include breakfast, so we had very nice breakfasts in the adjoining Patrick Foley's Irish Bar. The bar (not the hotel) does smell a little bit cigarette smokey though. All in all, a nice conveniently located place to stay for a city break in beautiful Ghent.

The hotel staff are very friendly and had no problem communicate in English, the room was clean and comfortable. Free wireless internet connection in the room, a very comfortable place to be after a long day walk around Gent.

First time at this hotel. Very quaint and pleasant. Rooms are a little small (even for Europe). If you are looking for luxury, you will be disappointed. Internet service was solid. Breakfast was excellent. Reasonably close to downtown. Staff is excellent and very friendly!
