We do advertise as being a 2 star rated hotel, while that does not mean we give 2 star service, we do try to be upfront with what amenities we have and what we offer. If you come back for our excellent (relative) value feel free to ask us for some recommendations on the room types, things to do, and other beaches that are just a quick drive or long walk away if you don't like the more protected (by the Chatham sand Bars) beach area directly next to our Inn. Either way, Thank you for staying with us and perhaps we will see you again sometime.

I am the Innkeeper, Chris, and we always have a manager on site even when the office is closed for the night and I was awake until 1230am and didnt realize there was a problem. We are glad the location was good for your stay. As for the doors the last few days were spent with our maintenance team adjusting them due to the high humidity and recent paint caused them to be tighter than we would want. They should remain fixed now that we've adjusted them.

We are glad the location worked for you - hopefully when you come back you will get a chance to see the improvements we are making to the property each off season!

We're sorry that is how you remember the conversation we had. The toilet was not broken, though it was taking longer to fill than it normally does. After your stay we were able to get the maintenance team here to fix it permanently. Our intention of mentioning it when you arrived was to let you know that it was filling slower and that we had another room (though not ocean facing) open if you needed to move rather than to ask you to fix it for us. As for 'maid service' you are correct we are currently following CDC guidelines (which was mentioned to you when you checked in) and if YOU wanted service you can ask us, otherwise we would not enter your room without the request to do so. For future stays if you would like service this year please just ask - we are happy to provide it.

Thank for for sharing your experience. --- To start off we would like to reassure anyone else reading this that our building is safe, while the stairs in that section of the building are indeed narrow being a historic inn, they are safe and secure, we've not heard them referred to as rickety by other guests or staff. --- It's also important to note that in the town of Chatham, our building is inspected by multiple town officials yearly for safety and compliance with regulations, and while summer rentals do not have these inspections and regulations ALL Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, and Inns do. --- As for advertising an ocean view - some of our rooms are ocean facing with a view and are indeed advertised that way, however, our less expensive rooms are smaller and do not have a view and we try to make it very clear so people are not disappointed. --- Overall it certainly sounds like we did not meet your expectations - and we are sorry that we fell short. --- Best, Surfside Inn

As we discussed when you were here we post that there is no AC three times on our website, and two times on expedia sites. In addition you did purchase our last petite room, which is our smallest. If you come back in the future we would advise you to pick one of our larger rooms if space is an issue for a multi-night stay.

Hi SuzinCT, I am sorry that you had a negative experience. I would have been able to try to assist you if you would have let us know. As for the fan I have looked in the room I believe you were in and can not find a frayed cord, and the room still has its quilt/coverlet on the bed. Many of our guest find that 1 layer of blanket is enough, but we do have lots of extras available if needed. I hope if you consider coming back to a property and have any issues you bring it up to the team so they can try to assist you, otherwise we can not help you resolve it if we don't even know about it.

We love that our guests are able to use the common items that we provide and for the area stay close to the beach at a great value. As you mentioned we do not try to be fancy, nor do we have AC and we want people to know (it's why we list it 3 times on our website and 2 times here on Expedia).
