Villa Neri markets itself as a 5-star luxury hotel, but it falls far short of that. While it is well located, has a decent pool and looks lovely from the outside, it fails miserably at the basics: sleep, food and service. Our bed was soft and wobbly, so we continually woke each other up and woke up with a bad back. The pillows were cheap and nasty. The curtains let in lots of light so the room was bright at 630am (see pic). In short, we slept badly every night, which defeats the point of a holiday.
The breakfast was awful. While there was nice fresh fruit, everything else was of very poor quality (see pics). Food otherwise was overpriced: a nasty burger was 24 euros and the tasting menu in the restaurant for dinner was 80 euros, for which one expects top quality that was sorely lacking.
And then there's the service, which is generally disinterested: the offhand manner of the lady at reception, the guy at the pool whom you ask for towels and grunts "they're there" when you've told him that they've run out, etc. Last but not least, the room design is bizarre. The shower is in full view from the bedroom and there is no means to hide it. You can even see the toilet from the bedroom from certain angles. This could be a lovely hotel with a bit of investment and new management. As it stands, avoid it.
