Lovely hotel but not luxury service
Overall a lovely hotel and setting but a few things which let the hotel down. We have stayed in around 30 SLHs, and small things here which overall let down the "luxury" status. At breakfast you pay extra if you want omelette, fried egg or a vegetable juice for example... we had booked the restaurant for one evening prior to our stay (we went out the other night) but they failed to tell us they had an event on so we were unable to actually eat in the restaurant and got put in the breakfast room (we would happily have chosen to eat at the hotel restaurant another night instead had they told us this way the case). Wellness area was lovely, but i had a massage there which consisted of being rubbed very quickly rather than actually massaged (bit odd), and as i was pregnant they sat me up rather than putting me on my side which was less comfortable. Finally upon leaving i had left a bag of bottles and toiletries separately to our suitcase which had clearly been flung on the floor in the storage room smashing 2 glass bottles and ruining a lot of my belongings. Gorgeous pool area, very relaxing area, lovely clean hotel and nice toiletries.. a shame that these things let down our stay.

A peacedul oasis
An outstanding location with Etna in view. Peaceful and comforatble accommodation. Small but very hard working group of staff Only 'downside' is its remote location. No taxi service and although the hotel will often offer complimentary lifts to local restauarants, vineyeards etc, at times they do not have capacity.

Luckily, we had a GPS, simce the turns are quick and the roads are rugged on the way there. But the stay is so well worth it. Room had totally private terrace, spa has a lovely set up with a shaved ice machine to cool down between treatments and the food is very special. Breakfast has so many artistically laid out, quality and healthy choices. Allesandro is an informed and delightful presence in the dining room and poolside eating areas. Grounds are impeccably maintained. Art surrounds you. Staff were all very gracious. Restful surroundings -

Thank you to mario, paulu and all the team. Our experince was fantastic thanks to the super friendly staff that went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. Our favorite memories are the champagne breakfasts overlooking mount etna, sipping cocktails by the pool, the romantic spa couples treatments and the fabulous food at the restaurant. We will come again!

5* Fortress of Solitude
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights following our beach vacation in Taormina. It is a perfect place to unwind if you want to break up the drive back to Catania airport. I have to admit I was very curious as to how a hotel in such a remote location can possibly justify a 5* rating. The answer has to be the gorgeous, beautifully decorated, and massive rooms (our balcony had a direct view onto Mount Etna), the spa (which is free), and the excellent breakfast. Outside, the salt water pool is an added plus. The service was okay – typical Sicilian standoffish–ness. The hotel also seems to be very popular with British tourists. Do not go to this hotel if you are not prepared to relax and read a book all day. There is absolutely no entertainment, minus the Michelin-star restaurant which we never visited. TIP: Double-check your hotel bill during check-out. Some joker decided to add an expensive dinner and bottle of wine to my tab.

Very comfortable boutique hotel.
Beautiful room and pool area. Breakfast was delicious and restaurant is very good. The free spa area with steam, sauna and a hydro jet pool was a plus. You will need a car. Great for three days to explore Mt. Aetna and Taormina. Rooms would be perfect with a curtain between shower and bedroom and switching silly grand sink for two individual sinks; leaving much needed space for toilet kits, etc. A fitness center would be welcomed as well a walking map to guide you on morning walks in the lovely country country side Overall these are small constructive criticisms to make this very comfortable boutique hotel a 10. Room 211 was spacious and had a great terrace.

Our favourite Sicily hotel
Vila Neri is a beautiful small hotel on the slopes of Mount Etna, smart and modern in feel. Comfortable rooms, excellent service and very peaceful. This was our second stay. It is difficult to find without satnav, on a minor road, a couple of miles North of Linguaglossa.

Lovely, relaxing stopover.
This spa was a great stop off for our Sicilia road trip. The grounds are lovely with a fantastic view, nearby to a lot of fun vineyards and wineries, and very close to some Etna basecamps. The spa itself is small but clean and really relaxing. Great steam room, great sauna, lovely salt water jet stream spa. Breakfast was plentiful - more like a Nordic breakfast than an Italian one (yes) Staff was very friendly and helpful, although I apparently booked the room for only one person instead of 2 and incurred an additional €35 fee as a result. Which brings me to my only negative... Although really lovely, I wonder at the value for the money here. I think a €200 stay is really a bit extreme, given the amenities.

New hotel on the lower northern slopes of Etna
The pictures do this hotel justice - it is a tranquil oasis set in its own grounds in the lower foothills to the north of Etna. The grounds are perfectly manicured, as is the hotel. The staff were the best I encountered in Sicily for their professionalism and obviously 5-star service. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and spotlessly clean. The unfortunate result of this is that the hotel has something of a soulless fell to it, not helped by the chill-out music playing in the background. Don't get me wrong, if you want tranquility and cleanliness, there is probably no better spot in Sicily. Lovely swimming pool (not heated), immaculate grounds and a good breakfast. Was rather disappointed to be told on arrival that the restaurant was fully booked for the night, so I can't comment on the dinner options, but the hotel recovered well by booking a good restaurant in town and providing a driver free of charge.

Our stay was fine. It started with a lovely note addressed to "Mr and Mrs (my name)" which I thought was an odd thing to assume - as did my male partner. What if we were just friends traveling together? Or worse, brothers or brother/sister? Anyway, the hotel is quiet and relaxing with only about 25 rooms. The restaurant is delicious but expensive, and the decor doesn't match the quality of the food. It felt like a wedding hall. The rooms are great, very clean and comfortable - loved the tile in the bathroom. I wish the staff were a little more accommodating with helping us make restaurant reservations or recommending activities in Linguaglossa, but everyone was friendly and very professional.

Just what we were looking for
This hotel is perfect if you like s more refined experience. The service is very good and anything you like is possible, my only negatives would be the restaurant was extremely expensive and portions so tiny it was hardly beliavable when we were served! We were hungry after and very light in our wallet! There are of course restaurants around but being remote not so much choice and we would of liked to have stayed at the hotel more in the evening as the lunches were so good, big potions and good price so I think it is a shame the evening menu is how it is. We mentioned to the management and they didn't really seem to care and nothing was said or done which was our only disappointment. We had a lovely holiday would recommend to stay here.

What a find!
We loved everything about Villa Neri. We had an amazing suite with an incredible bathroom and two balconies, one of which faced Mount Etna. We also had a truly amazing dinner, and a wonderful massage at the spa. This is a great jumping-off point for tours to Mount Etna, and we give it the highest recommendation possible.

Beware: not 5-star luxury, fails at the basics
Villa Neri markets itself as a 5-star luxury hotel, but it falls far short of that. While it is well located, has a decent pool and looks lovely from the outside, it fails miserably at the basics: sleep, food and service. Our bed was soft and wobbly, so we continually woke each other up and woke up with a bad back. The pillows were cheap and nasty. The curtains let in lots of light so the room was bright at 630am (see pic). In short, we slept badly every night, which defeats the point of a holiday. The breakfast was awful. While there was nice fresh fruit, everything else was of very poor quality (see pics). Food otherwise was overpriced: a nasty burger was 24 euros and the tasting menu in the restaurant for dinner was 80 euros, for which one expects top quality that was sorely lacking. And then there's the service, which is generally disinterested: the offhand manner of the lady at reception, the guy at the pool whom you ask for towels and grunts "they're there" when you've told him that they've run out, etc. Last but not least, the room design is bizarre. The shower is in full view from the bedroom and there is no means to hide it. You can even see the toilet from the bedroom from certain angles. This could be a lovely hotel with a bit of investment and new management. As it stands, avoid it.

This place not only lived up to your expectations it surpassed them by a mile. The photos do not do it justice. A great hotel that we would definitely go back to and recommend without hesitation. Nice but nothing special.
We had a junior suite which was gorgeous, including a beautiful, spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. I was disappointed that a terrace and view of etna werent included, but maybe that's the luck of the draw. We were surprised by the lack of warmth and the seeming indifference by the front desk staff compared to other places we have stayed in Italy. I told two people on two different occasions the wifi didn't work in our room and received no assistance or concern. "Hmm. I'll look into it" was the gist of the response with no follow up. When we checked out, we weren't asked how we enjoyed our stay or anything like that. The breakfast was lovely, and the server Stephano was friendly and very attentive, but we were disappointed with the the dinner. I also enjoyed a great massage in the spa. We travel for three weeks to Italy every summer and have stayed in many hotels. Not sure I can highly recommend this one.

Nice hotel, but not quite right
The hotel is lovely. The room was in good condition, a little different, decent size, the breakfast staff were lovely, the pool area great and the views and grounds special. However the shower is tiny, one or two employees are grumpy, no gym and it is some distance by car to anywhere. The menu put us off eating dinner at the hotel, we are happy to try something different, it may have been lovely but it was pretentious, there was no alternative, sometimes something simple is the order of the day. That said we really enjoyed the stay it, perhaps the nicest room and location we stayed in during our trip to Sicily but something is missing.

Great hotel in tranquility away from it all
Mario, Mario and Paolo - three of the waiting staff get first mention for their delightful service and kind hospitality. The hotel is luxurious and has a lovely fine dining restaurant where even the occasional power cut doesn't disturb the experience. The grounds are small but well maintained the rooms are large, comfortable and have fittings that are in keeping with 5* in other countries. The front desk staff were a bit mixed. Nadia was excellent and very helpful. Gloria always seemed rushed, and this led to a few issues with restaurant bookings but all in all, nothing too concerning. The spa staff would benefit from a bit more skill in the linguistic department as it makes it challenging to discuss specific needs but they are skilled and created a nice but not 5-star spa experience. All in all, a wonderful stay if you want to get away from it all. Taormina looks close but it takes up an hour to get there so you have the hotel pool & spa, etna and the sleepy untouristy villages to keep you occupied if you get bored or hungry.

Good hotel, hard to find
Once you find it, the hotel itself is very good. Beautiful rooms. Great restaurant, I recommend the Menu de Degustazione. Spa is also good, except the massage was NOT. She thought a massage was juts putting oil on your body and thats it. Oh well. Shower in the room was also very strange. As with most good hotels in Italy, they have a Rain shower head. Problem is that the shower enclosure is so small that you have to be under the shower head when adjusting the temperature, absurd. The only other option is to keep the shower door open, with water running all over the bathroom and out actually into the room, even more absurd.Hard problem for them to fix at this time, architect's fault. Extra towels to mop the floor are the only answer.

Great Spa Hotel excellent food with a view of Etna
The location is very rural, in the Bove Valley north of Etna, a wine growing region, really very remote and has a spectacular back drop of the northern side of Etna the nearest town is Linguaglossa. Located 11 miles from Taormina and only about 15 minutes off the toll road. An ideal location for trekking into the volcanic regions and getting away from everything, the views are great and facilities very good indeed, the spa and restaurant at the hotel are both recommended. The menu offers a four course set meal with local wine (very good) at 45 Euro, A la Carte is more expensive but very good indeed, be warned you actually get 6/7 courses with the extra bits thrown in, top quality stuff. A car is a must have and be warned many of the local roads just cease to exist without warning, a amp is needed as sat nav keeps dropping out, the staff were very helpful and really friendly English being spoken by most. Easy drive to Etna cable car (via toll road) about an hour, the same to the airport, 25 minutes to Taormina (don't drive in Taormina park at the lower cable car is not a driving place!). All in all a lovely setting for a few days break in a very luxurious hotel spa we would certainly return and recommend.

Peaceful getaway
Lovely location in peaceful environment at foot of Mt Etna. Real adult getaway which is what we wanted, great place to unwind, large pool, open spaces, lovely garden, good friendly service. Good choice for breakfast even had champagne at no extra cost. Meal in restaurant was excellent with handmade chocs and other extras thrown in, the young chef came out and said hello.... He will go places !!! Room was lovely.. Shower could be bigger with shelf to put shampoo, shower gel on and no conditioner again.... !! But overall a great place to stay and chill out in comfort.
