Excellent boutique hotel, recently from it's neighbour La Pommier. Staff are excellent and friendly breakfast is brilliant. Only down side is the signage to the property is lacking. Will recommend and return.
My family enjoyed our 3 night stay (2 kids aged 5 and 9, parents and grandparents). The hotel is set in lovely grounds by the river and the staff are friendly. The wine tasting was fun (good wine) and the Eagle Encounters was a hit with the kids. We ate well at each of the restaurants. The hotel is easy access from Cape Town (you can even come by train) and close to Stellenbosch - a beautiful old university town.
Very nice boutique hotel in a peaceful suburb. Not within walking distance of Stellenbosch but that didn't bother us. Staff are excellent, breakfast superb , gardens very pretty - all in all would highly recommend

This guest house is absolutely lovely and relaxing with friendly and welcoming staff. We stayed in the loft room which is clean, modern and spacious (the bed is soo comfortable too!), however the stairs are a little steep up to the bedroom area though so I'd recommend staying in the main building if you're a bit older and would find it a struggle.
It's only a 20 min walk into Stellenbosch town and a short drive to the vineyards. I'd definitely recommend staying here, it really made our last couple of days in SA truly amazing!
Drove from the airport there challenged by driving on the left side of the road. Staff ran out and cleared traffic so I could park. Then they moved my car to their garage ,took my luggage inside, and babied my weary soul with food and drink. I have never had better service in my life. Great room. Antiques and modern bathroom. Quiet, safe, and comfortable. Great breakfast, better staff, an exquisite time. I will circle back there in a month or so.

As soon as you drive up to the Hotel you know its a bit special. Set in beautiful surroudings Asara has got the WOW factor. Our suitcases were taken out of our hire car and taken to our room whilst we had a welcome class of wine in reception and our car parked for us. The courtyard rooms are huge with an enormous bathroom with everything we could want for. The queen size bed was so comfortable with nice clean fresh sheets. Meals at the hotel are fabulous and breakfasts taken at a leisurely pace on the outdoor balcony overlooking the lakes and mountains. This is a very special place. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful experience during our 3 week stay at The Lord Charles! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The facilities were user friendly and comfortable. The restaurant and service was excellent and the food was at a high standard! Great staff and chef! It was very sad to leave as we felt like family. We will certainly be back there next year!
Well done and thanks to all at The Lord Charles :)
