Mercure Canberra is well located, there are nearby options to use the public transportation in the city. The hotel areas need some attention. Breakfast offers a good choice for continental breakfast. The room was spacious and clean, comfortable bed and huge bathroom, however the safety deposit box did not work and I wasted time waiting for someone to fix it which in the end it did not work and could not use it. Overall, Mercure Canberra is a good choice for a short stay or visit.

The property is old and I expected that as it’s been a Canberra gem for ages. However, I expected much comfier beds for a Mercure. I’ve stayed at quite a few Mercure’s and this has been the worst bed of all. I was hoping going with this brand name would mean comfy facilities even though it’s an old building. There’s also no lift, so be careful if you have accessibility issue.

Such a beautiful historical hotel. It was built in 1927, just as Canberra started up with the building of Old Parliament House. Lovely character, large rooms.

It was a terrible night and could not sleep well as we had to evacuate two times around 4 am and 4:30 am for the false fire alarms. Staffs should explain why it happened and apologise about false alarms before we ask about it.

The room was really small and they had a huge glass table beside the bed which was way too big for the room. A bit hard to get into bed. Also, something to consider for heritage type accommodation, they did not have a lift where we were and I was in a moon boot. Lesson learnt on my part. Not sure why we had to pay for parking for a spot out the front which the general public could use anyway.

Poor EV charger option
I'd recommend getting an EV charger supplier that doesn't require payment on top of the hotel bill. A very slow charger is not worth it and having a fast charger would make you more of a destination and generate more business over time.

I enjoyed my stay, I upgraded to a courtyard room and loved it. Mini bar and movie purchases way too expensive. The staff were great. On site Restaurant not available so ate in Bistro..pub like atmosphere, bit noisy but food was great.
