For the money, the Oasis Hotel was a very satisfactory place to stay. If you know anything at all about Cairo's incredibly heavy traffic, you will appreciate this hotel's proximity to the airport and its fairly quiet neighborhood. There is now even a great French bakery just across the street! I had a few minor problems with the people behind the front desk, but I did get my wake-up calls on time and the people in the restaurant were very friendly and the food not bad at all for the price. The elevator was very small, the hall rugs worn and dirty, but the room though simple was clean and comfortable. While a far cry from the four and five star hotels I stayed in up and down the Nile, this was a great, way to save some money and start and end my trip: getting over jet lag and getting ready to fly home.
