Last stay at the Baron.
We arrived from airport at 3am. The reception told us that the only available room is a twin bedroom although I booked a double room and paid for it . As We're really exhausted we accepted, when we reached the room I uncovered the two beds and found that the bed sheets weren't changed so I called and informed the reception, he said will send the house keeping to replace them , then he suggested to take a different room, it was alrady 3.30 am So we accepted and the luggage taken to the second room, unfortunately when checking the bed sheets they were worse than the 1st. So I called again and he suggested a 3rd room in the new building, in fact we and the luggage were transferred it was already 4am. ,there one of the two beds needed change of sheet. We're finally able to sleep at 4.30 am. Next morning we discovered that the bathroom sink was obstructed and the room safe wasn't working. After informing the reception We're able to get only the sink repaired but the safe ignored. We stayed for two nights and checked out , nobody from the hotel reception or administration got in contact with us.

The start always with the check in was horrible lots of issues and internal policy which really make your life miserable . Asking for money every day . Call you in bad time when you try to sleep to ask for money . If you order coffee and ask for the check they have to ask so many department if is ok to just sign . It’s horrible and so many other things

Significant refit - much improved
The Baron had obviously had an extensive refit since our last visit. Lifts are much improved. Bedroom was clean and newly painted. Overall we were very satisfied. The only weak spot was the air con in our room which could have been better.

Sweet Talk No Action NOT 4 stars hotel
I stayed in the hotel 23 years ago and couldn’t believe how BAD the services have declined. After traveling for nearly 24 hours all you need is a clean room to shower and get some sleep. Unfortunately though they provided us with a filthy, disgusting room that has not been cleaned, human hair every where on the bed, dirty towels, used cups and placed, filth and some kind of droppings on carpets and bath mat. Dust over the counters and welcome book etc. Reported this to the receptionist who took ages to call the duty manager, he apologized and said he will try to send someone to clean the room, it took them more than half another to come and when I complained they said they are trying to find another room, after an hour they changed the room and they promised to make up for this. As usual sweet talk and No action. Two days later we left the hotel in the morning and returned late evening only to find the room door is wide open I refused to enter and to have security accompany me in side. They called the general manager who checked the room me with and said that he will look at the security cameras and come back to us in five minutes, of course nothing happened at all and when I saw by chance him then next day at noon he promised that he will make up for it. He made it look like I was doing this to earn a favor any way he promised a room upgrade and/or a free a dinner voucher which we NEVER SAW any of what they promised. So Disappointing, honestly Terrible experience

The Baron Hotel Cairo is a nice hotel, and you can tell it was likely much nicer in the past, but hasn't been kept up as well. Much of the furniture, fixtures, etc. need maintenance. Our bathroom fixtures needed to be fixed, including the bidet which had turned itself on while we were gone for the day...fortunately didn't make too much of a mess. Crowded area...but of course that is all of Cairo... hard to get to local dinner spots, even with a taxi, due to traffic issues.
