Brigitte Bardot Statue

Brigitte Bardot Statue featuring a statue or sculpture and outdoor art
Not only does this statue depict one of the most famous sex symbols of all time, it is also located in a natural beauty spot.

It is easy to understand why the famous Brigitte Bardot statue is one of Búzios’ most photographed landmarks. It is a very unusual statue positioned amid spectacular natural scenery. These facts alone make it worthy of plenty of attention. However, it also represents some key aspects of the town’s history. Visit this statue to get a selfie with a film icon and to gain some insight into the town’s past at the same time.

Although Búzios’ roots are of course Portuguese, the French also once played a role in the development of this little oceanfront town. In the early 16th century, French pirates patrolled the seas here, trading with the indigenous people. In the latter part of the century, the Portuguese drove these pirates out. The next major French influence on Búzios came in the early 1960s, when world-famous French actress Brigitte Bardot came on vacation here. Visit the town today and you will see her legacy in many different places. This once sleepy little fishing village is now a thriving resort and it owes much of its fame to Bardot.

The statue was created by local artist Christina Motta. It sits on the waterfront, staring out to sea. Look across the ocean and see the same view the real Brigitte Bardot once looked at. Admire the sparkling waters and delightful little fishing boats. To see the vista at its most spectacular, come at sunset.

Reach the statue by taking a leisurely stroll along the coast. When you are approaching from the north, you will come across landmarks such as the pretty Church of Sant’Anna on the way. Come from the south and you will instead walk past the picturesque Mangue Pier and an unusual statue of three fisherman wading in the sea. This statue is also the work of Christina Motta.

Find the Brigitte Bardot statue at Orla Brigitte Bardot, just a few minutes to the north of Rue das Pedras, the road that’s the thriving heart of Búzios’ tourist scene.
