Amazing
The only complaint I have is that the outlets didn’t work that great with my grounded universal converter. The view was absolutely breathtaking. The room is extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were all friendly and accommodating.

Our 1st trip to the hotel was over 30 yrs ago. The view is as magnificent as ever , rooms are just as comfortable and the hotel well maintained with good breakfast and dining options. Exceptional service especially from Marta. enjoyed our stay.

Highly recommended hotel to stay at Grendel Wald
highly recommended hotel, amazing staff so kind and friendly, room was so clean and lovely, the balcony was great, great view and very nice environment. laundry was good and fast, free parking. very good location. very helpful front desk. best restaurant we have ever bean they have professional guy server. breakfast was not that option. We had a very good experience time at the restaurant. the hotel is safe and great.

Excellent family run establishment
Staff were particularly friendly and the family running the location are very attentive and kind. We enjoyed the facilities and the amazing views. One of the more surprising elements of the stay was how and informed we were prior to arrival regarding COVID and how well the hotel had prepared themselves and their attention to details. Very impressive. Their menu selection os very well done - and the wine list even more impressive - so when we do go back we will stay again.

Fantastic view - evening bar disappointing
Amazing view, quite a hike to the town though. Service on reception was very good as was the breakfast service and the breakfast was wonderful. My husband and I went for a drink at the bar early evening and we were ignored, i believe by the owner who actually started to speak with me but stopped in the middle to speak French with other guests, I then asked a waitress if it was possible to order a drink and waited ages, this put us off using the using the bar again and eating in the restaurant. The hotel room was very nice, but the shower was in the bath and there was very little room between the bath and toilet when getting out of the shower. this is not good for older guests.

Great view, comfortable room.
The hotel gave my Wife and I a complimentary upgrade with a beautiful view from our balcony! Only drawback is that when we have requested for a kettle to boil water, there wasn’t given and house keeping could do a better job at cleaning.

Adorable Swiss Chalet
Hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming with the exception of an older woman who worked breakfast. She was not pleasant and made us feel like we were bothering her. The rooms were nice but the bathroom could use a renovation. We ate dinner at the hotel one evening and it was exceptional- both the service and the food.

What a location!

Many issues, stay away
The rooms are dingy and the walls are paper thin. You can hear every sound in the hall and in the rooms next door. There was a repetitive clicking sound during all three nights of my stay. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the rooms have no air conditioning. There were many issues during my stay. Firstly, the cleaning person did not come to clean my room the first day. Worse still, on the second morning of my stay, someone opened my hotel room door with a card key. I don’t know who it was as they ran off and I was still in bed. I called down to the front desk to report this, and they told me that they can’t “undo what has been done.” They repeated this line to me multiple times after each issue I spoke to them about, which frankly added to my frustration. The hotel restaurant would also not accommodate my requests for a dairy-free meal and overall there seemed to be miscommunication between the staff which made it difficult to arrange shuttle transport to and from the train station. Lastly, contrary to their advertisements, they do not help you access local day hikes. I presented these complaints during my stay and at check out and the managerial staff spent more time telling me I spoke English to quickly than apologizing for all these issues in my stay. There are plenty of hotels in the area, stay away from this one.

Top 3 Hotel in 22 Years of Government Service
Guided Walk-thru of the Eiger Deluxe Plus Suite, impressive view of the mountains during sunset/sunrise and throughout the day, enjoyed the snow covered cityscape using the wrap-around balcony. Perfect location to setup the time lapse camera and tripods to take perfect mountain night shots. Complimentary mini-bar and fresh fruit basket setup, we particularly enjoyed the dates. The family enjoyed the cake hour where we sat near a nice fire drinking cappuccino and listening to the pop and crackling of the fire. A perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge. I suggest you bring some bath bombs when you stage in this deluxe plus suite. A double set of blackout shades are provided in the room; however, we enjoyed leaving the shades open to let in the moon and starlight reflecting off of the three mountains. Breakfast was true to European standards, I always love eating salmon in the morning along with a wide variety of cheese and other assortments. Dinner is quite the experience. Try the Whiskey flamed skewers. When they advertise high-speed internet, it is truly high-speed internet that ranges from 60 - 80 Mbps the only other hotel chain that came close to this speed was a Marriott in Kuwait capping out at 40 Mbps. Overall, I am impressed with this family ran Hotel having visited many hotels in my 22 years of government service. We will come out here again during the Spring and Summertime to enjoy the hiking experiences and to see the city in full bloom.

Best view from the front side. Breakfast is amazing. Easy walk to and from town without being in the town itself. Super close to the First gondola if this is part of you trip plans.

Traditional Swiss hotel in the base of The Alps
A very good experience all round, close to the town, for those not wanting to walk the steep hills, a free shuttle is provided at immediate notice. Plus points are the two restaurants, spacious clean rooms, friendly well dressed staff and for us an electric car charging point to use as a base for our own touring. Stunning views from all angles and an outside sitting area for eating if the weather is good. A traditional Swiss wooden building, and staff speak in several languages in this German speaking area. Would recommend, and overall quiet and relaxing with a superb lounge and bar. Free cakes until 17:30!!!

The hotel was incredibly inviting. The single room was very nicely furnished and quite comfortable. The restaurant and breakfast areas were very well prepared and the food was great. Only mistake I made was not utilizing the hotels shuttle service as the walk from the train depot to the hotel is all uphill!

Great Place in Grindelwald
We have stayed at the Kirchbuehl on a couple of occasions, and it consistently provides great service from the moment you check in. The rooms are comfortable, all with great views, and the breakfast has high quality options to please anyone.

The hotel itself is an attractive building typical of the area with stunning views from the terrace. It is up a very steep hill though, which definitely would pose problems for less mobile persons, and this is coming from two people who were there to run an ultra trail race so it really is that steep. Whilst the hotel is modern and clean, we were surprised by the very poor levels of service. While a few of the staff were nice, others were very rude and brusque, and positively surly. It is the least welcome i have ever felt in a hotel and i have stayed in many hundreds over the years. A pity as it was very expensive as well, especially considering it has no leisure amenities. Overall, it soured our whole experience and neither of us would stay here again.

Exhausting
The hotel is so hard to get to. With our luggage we had to walk up very. Very very steep hills. We could see the hotel from the bottom of the hill but its not well marked at all..like a maze to get there!!..view and hotel were nice BUT..not worth the money! Great staff and nice breakfast included, just expensive for the average travler.

Great service
Upon arrival we were greeted with maps and plenty of information. The breakfast and afternoon tea (included) were great services that we really appreciated. The staff were really accommodating - even when we arrived at the dining room just before close and requested dessert. Without hesitation they looked after us. We loved our balcony view of the mountains and spent a few hours out there. Wifi worked well, good size bathrooms and comfy beds. The room did get warm though, as there wasn't any ventilation or air conditioning other than opening our door and the blankets were very thick for summer.
