Great front reception staff, rooms clean and well equipped.
Fantastic gym for a hotel, although it can get very busy at peak times due to being a stand alone gym with separate members from the hotel.
Main restaurant is on the first floor with good food and breakfast.
River bar on the ground floor is where the hotel fails for me.
First night experience was being given a menu and placing a drink order, a pint served quickly.
Only 3 other tables occupied, waited 20 minutes for my food order to be taken, while watching the male and female staff members flirt with each other and generally not do anything else.
Presuming the bar manager was not interested either as he was stood on the other side of the bar next to them.
Finally my order was taken, the food was poor, the burger was tougher than an old boot and I couldn’t eat it.
I decided the second night that maybe it was just a one off and to give it another try.
No flirting as the female member of staff was not working but the food was again badly cooked, a chicken fillet burger that had been butterflied about 4 times and cooked until drier than sandpaper.
I would say giver the River Bar a miss when at this hotel.
