We loved staying at Ananda Cottages. The setting is amazing we looked out over the rice paddies very picturesque. There are beautiful gardens around the villas and pools, it was very peaceful and relaxing. The staff were exceptional and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is set around a large, landscaped eco pond where we enjoyed our meals. We highly recommend this stay!!

Ananda is a beautiful peaceful oasis in Ubud. The gardens and pools are lovely, the rooms very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the staff really friendly and helpful and the breakfast has a good selection of food. It’s a bit out of town but they have a free shuttle three times a day and you can get a taxi back for $5. You can walk it in 30 mins if you can cope with the heat. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by as well. We had two interconnecting rooms which suited us perfectly. Unfortunately they were upstairs which I only realised when we got there and this was a problem for my bad knee so do ask for downstairs rooms if you have any mobility issues. I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Ubud

Nice experience staying at the apartment. Lots of areas to explore. Only issue is the weak WIFI coverage, but that's a good excuse not to use electronic devices and just enjoy the stay.

I really loved the ambiance however I did not enjoy having to ring reception every time somebody needed to shower as there was no hot water. Also the air conditioner maintenance man spent more time in our room than we did.

The Gardens are spectacular. The whole property is an authentic Balinese envirenment. Rice fields, buildings, and the beautiful amazing gardens on the whole property. Lovingly taken care of by dedicated staff who have worked there for. Any years. Only complaint was the breakfasts have deteriorated recently, only vegan offering because of the high number of yoga practitioners who stay there 8 stays always very relaxing.

The hotel grounds, views and ambience really give an easy relaxed vibe. I enjoyed the ponds, flowers, fruit trees - even the lovely white duck (we named him Crispy lol) The staff were amazing - helpful and always smiling. I will stay here again.

Everything about our 2 night stay at the Ananda Cottages was fantastic from start to finish. Awesome service, awesome staff, magnificent food and surroundings. Our cottage was top notch. I can't fault the place. We will be back one day.

Hotel near vibey shops, cafes and restaurants. One pool located near our room. Staff friendly and helpful. Entrance to cottages not pleasant and cottages are isolated from each other. We were in a group so more suited to people wanting a retreat! Needs revamping!

We LOVED this spot!
We are a family of 4 (kids 12 and 15) and we LOVED our stay for a number of reasons. Due to airport closure (thanks to the volcano eruption) we arrived 6 hrs late at 3am. The staff were very friendly and two helped us down to our rooms. We were happy to find two adjacent rooms set our for us with connection via the balconies. One with King and the other had two singles, both with their own bathrooms and balconies. The hotel location was perfect for us. Out of Ubud center, but only a 15-20min walk away past the local supermarket (Bintang Market) full of groceries, drinks, local sim cards and upstairs was full of local tourism nicknacks. There are some GREAT restaurants within a 5-10 min walk such as The Elephant, the recently opened Dumbo (great coffee) and Warung Pulau Kelapa (great Indonesian). The 3 pools meant we always found a quiet spot to hang and the breakfast was lovely with freshly cooked omelets (our sons favorite) and a nice selection of fresh fruit. The staff were lovely and we couldn't speak more highly of room cleaner Wyan who made our room sparkle daily with beautiful flower arrangements on the bed :) Also super friendly whenever he spied us on the grounds. For the money this place is excellent. While you can find higher level resorts in Ubud, we would go back here in a second and it seems we are not the only ones to feel this way as we met a number of others there who told us they go there yearly. What more can we say?

I visited this property to bring guests there for a training this year so it looks kind of Balinese rustic- only problem I had was we were put in two adjoining rooms near very noisey road and restaurant- so we had to move to down the property- you could still hear the noise of the Rosd and finally we were put into an adjoining Property 150 Metres from main hotel to superb rooms overlooking the rice paddies- quiet and perfect- breakfast was boring in main breakfast room however I ordered room service and asked for traditional Indonesian breakfast which they accommodated and was excellent- I’d stay here again as long as away from that noisey road!

Don't be misled by the 24 hour room service on the expedia website - we arrived at 9.45 from the airport and couldn't order any food. Apparently the kitchen closes at 10 pm. We had to change rooms as despite booking a superior double, the bathroom was very disappointing with no charm, no window and a basic over bath shower. The second room was much better and the rest of the stay was ok.

A relaxing place close to Rice fields
Ananda cottages isa very nice place interms of garden, environment. After one night in a standard room we appreciated very much to be upgraded in a much larger room with view on rice field . The service is good except Wifi which does not work well except in the lobby and restaurant. Overall a good stay in one of our preferred areas in Ubud

Lovely rooms overlooking rice paddies
Ours was a well furnished room overlooking an exquisite small garden just a few paces away from an infinity pool overlooking the rice fields. We had the luxury of always having the pool to ourselves. Being set just outside the hubbub of central Ubud, it felt private and peaceful. It's only a short taxi ride or an easy 20 minute slow walk to central Ubud. The breakfast was generous and fairly simple and the staff friendly. We would definitely return.

Amazingly beautiful and peaceful setting
Lovely balinese architecture set in the middle of the rice fields at a walking distance (15-20min.)from the centre of Ubud. Attentionate staff. Large and comfortable rooms, but outside bathrooms are a bit run down. It would be nicer if they had plants in them. 2 great pools, yoga classes and nice walks in the rice fields from the back of the complex. Breakfast a bit mediocre given the quality of the place (overcooked eggs, unnatural juices, spongy breads and pastries, unripe fruits and false butter...) it would be easy to fix these minor drawbacks to deserve the 5 star rating that this hotel should have given its overall charm and standard. I would probably return despite these little drawbacks.

The design of the cottages were amazing. Nestled among the rice paddies it was like a tropical escape in itself. Internet does not work in the rooms and barely does in the lobby. It is overpriced for what you get. Ants and cockroaches in the room was horrible. There is a difference between helpful staff, and staff just trying to make a commission from you.

Chose from internet. We had stayed at Sanua previously, and found the service not as good in Ubud. Also found used tissues behind bed that was not found by cleaners. Other issue was showers. As they are halfway up the wall, and you have to stoop or kneel in the bath. Mosquitoes can be a problem,ask for mosquito coils for room or balcony. Taxi ride into the town required. Breakfast pretty poor. Very tranquil location, but would not stay again.

The hotel is in a very good location and surroundings are quite nice; a very relaxing environment. Hotel staff were nice and they tried their best, but I did not see professionalism in services. Rooms were ok, but bathroom disappointing. Food also disappointing.

Fabulous hotel. Could not fault it. We had a room in the extension which is about 50 metres up the road from the reception. Beautiful room, amazing open bathroom. Absolutely gorgeous gardens. Back of hotel looks out over the rice paddys. Great breakfast. Loved it. Would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
