I had a terrible time at Riverview Hotel. I noticed the hotel had gotten great reviews on Tripadvisor and Hotels.com, that's why I chose it. I was dissapointed.
First: The AC did not work for the entirety of my stay (5 days). When we complained to the staff they quickly arranged a new room for us, but the air condition did not work here either. It became clear to me that the AC in none of the rooms were working (I checked 4-5 rooms and the temperature was between 27 and 30 degrees celcius in all of them).
Secondly: The WiFi did not work for all the 5 days. I was there for work and work a lot online. When we asked at what time we could expect the WiFi to work, the staff's response varied from two hours to two days. The WiFi did in fact not work when we arrived and was not working when we left.
Third: Almost none of the staff speaks english. This is fine in most other hotels, but in a hotel with this many issues it's a huge problem. We were there for work and had eventually to give up trying to get a proper room - we did not have the time.
I've seen that the manager has written a response to most reviews on Hotels.com, both positive and negative. I would reccomend that he starts getting his hotel in order and instructs the staff that when vital components of the room (AC and WiFi) are out of order it is only fair to refund part of the room.
I have been traveling in India for 5 weeks now and visited 7 or 8 hotels. This is the worst one - by far.
