Value for money with very basic rooms
Very basic facilities. Room is very tinny not enough space between upper bunk bed and ceiling. No place to sit in the room. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Gave us lots tips and guidance. Given us lots of useful information. Even after checkout, reception allowed us to use the communal area in the afternoon before we travel - this is a fantastic facility/service to guests.

This hostel is noisy and often marketed as a hotel which leads to people treating it as a hotel leaving messes everywhere. The tours offered through them are a joke and nothing more than a money grab.

HI, thank you for reviews ! You did booked economy room , guesthouse do have bigger rooms with sheared facilities , rooms in apartments , or private apartments with 1 , 2 or 3 bedrooms. Economy rooms are smallest with just bunk bed and sheared facilities , this information is in all booking pages. Abisko Guesthouse do not have tours , on our website you can book ( you do not have to! ) tours offered from all companies in Abisko.

I liked the location (very close to the train) and certain aspects of the property (the communal kitchen/living room was cool), but I had two major issues. The first is that the website is misleading and does not clearly disclose that you will be sharing a bathroom; I booked a private "superior queen room" and when you look at the pictures for it, it includes a bathroom and doesn't indicate that it's shared. The second issue was the bedding. It was incredibly cheap and uncomfortable and both my partner and I woke up with neck/back pain, which never happens to us in hotels. It was because the property provided one (1!) uncomfortable, flat, small square pillow per guest, and a very thin mattress pad. Given that the cost of this room ($300) was on par with what other more traditional hotels in the area charged for private rooms, it was a bad value. It would cost all of $100 to upgrade the bedding in the room we stayed in to be comfortable and not cause physical pain. It's a shame, because I liked talking to the other guests and the location of the property, but given the combination of the misleading information about the bathroom, the most uncomfortable bedding I've ever encountered, and the lack of competitive pricing compared to private rooms in nicer facilities nearby, I can't honestly say that I'd pick this particular property again.

The apartment was big and clean, and the staff at the reception were nice and friendly as well. We also had a friendly and knowledgeable driver whom fetched us safely from Abisko Guesthouse to Kiruna Airport. It would be perfect if both shower gel and shampoo were provided, same for sugar as well, though these are small matters and nothing much to complain about overall.

We stayed as a family here for three nights. Our main purpose was to do hikes nearby and hope to catch the Aurora. It is located within walking distance from the Abisko Ostra train station. Abisko guest house provides all the facilities of a clean room with a common kitchen and dining area. There is a grocery very close by for you to get food etc. I don't think there is any restaurant here. You can rent warm clothing sets and this is very handy if you are going to be out for a long time in cold weather. The staff are also very helpful in guiding you. If you plan to do any day time hikes, then most of these trails start from Abisko Turistation. No problem if you have a car. If you don't, it is about 3 km from the guest house. There is a nice walking path to Abisko turistation, but you have to factor this extra distance in case you are planning hikes from there. The guesthouse staff also help you in case you want to do different guided hikes, aurora tours etc. There is a paid guest laundry facility also available. We had a very enjoyable stay here. Highly disappointed, I feel I was ripped off for paying so much for this “hotel”. This was a hostel not a hotel. Shared bathroom with 3 other rooms, not comfortable at all, had to make your own bed, didn’t feel clean or safe. Hotel also cancelled our excursion 1 day before with not good reason.

Information on our website and on booking is very clear and you booked the room in the apartment with 3 bedrooms. You can find in the description of the room that this room has shared facilities: kitchen, bathroom, and living room. We have different types of rooms including private apartments, where you don't have to share facilities with other guests. Your Ice fishing tour was booked at 14:00 and unfortunately, due to polar night we don't have much daylight and at 14:00 it's already completely dark, and not possible to do the tour in the darkness.

Very good room and location. Nice staffs
The location is great. It's near the train station, supermarket and walkable to the lake. The Aurora sky station is 2 km from the guesthouse. Apartment room is simple, no frill but fully equipped with kitchen, living area and 1 bedroom. There is a common area with kitchen, washing machine as well. There is a lot of activities which arrange by the guesthouse. We chose Aurora BBQ. It's lovely BBQ dinner in Sami's hut behind the guesthouse. Once we finished we chased aurora together and found it. Staffs are lovely, kind and helpful.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Abisko. From many activities, the free winter clothes which are essential, the sauna and the location makes this an ideal place for viewing northern lights and also to explore the area.

Location, location. Great service from staff. Clean Very spotty staff coverage/not inside office at end of season, they rely on making phone calls ( expensive if foreigner/ 80 SEK for me) but very friendly, accommodating if they were present.

Exactly what you need for a trip to Abisko
The premises were pretty good for the area. Personnel was always available even by phone when needed and always there to assist. Providing great activities (tried snowmobile and totally recommend it). Best perk is that you can use for free equipment for the cold like ski uniforms, boots and gloves while staying there.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially when our ski mobile pickup went wrong (not through their fault at all). The kitchen was well equipped to make our own meals.

Room was not properly cleaned. Given times of Corona it felt like quite a health hazard. Common areas lacked paper and disinfection. Extremely loud guests made it impossible to sleep. Overpriced. Will not visit this place again. Very disappointed.

I stayed in a private apartment in Abisko Guesthouse for 1 night in March 2020. I found it to be well stocked with everything you would need for a lengthier stay (utensils, plates, chips, dish soap, etc), clean, and the location was within a 5min walk to the grocery store. The service here is awesome too and the staff is very responsive to your needs! They accommodated some last minute changes for me due to COVID19 during a very hectic time for them and I'm extremely grateful. Will definitely be coming back 👍👍 Pro tip: Book a bus to STF turistation through www.visitbyabisko.com on cold nights if you're doing a night photo tour offered through another tour company. Otherwise, it's a 30min walk on a dimly lit, snow covered path!

We stayed in a tiny room and shared the bathroom and kitchen with another tiny room. The room, kitchen, bathroom were clean. The guest house offers a range of activities, but they were too pricey for our budget. The staff was polite and helpful. Eating options in Abisko Östra are limited - you choose between a Sami dinner (reindeer on the menu) in a hunter's lodge somewhere in the wild, or a supermarket.

Super conviniently located ckose to Abisko east station. Easy walkable distances to national park as well as the frozen lake (during winter). Good sleep quality and facilities. We could even borron warm clothes for free. Friendly staff

Guesthouse is lovely and staff very very friendly and helpful. However 2 things need improved: 1. The placement of the bathroom is rubbish!!! But i know impossible to change this 2. You really really need to add better hinges to all of the internal doors. I know they need to be heavy fire doors but they constantly slam REALLY loud. This is hell to live with, especially if dsome of the other guests are noisy. It's a real shame as this ruins the accommodation. Lack of sleep on holiday is bad.......! But the staff were excellent, Jesus for the snowshoe walk in particular. But they were all good. T

We stayed in room 24 on the first floor of the house. The bedroom was new and clean. Eventhough we have to put on bedsheets and pillow ourselves, they were well clean. We were lucky that we were the only guests on that floor so the living room, kitchen and bathroom were ours that night. Service was wonderful.

I will admit that we agreed to the economy room, however, a room with no window, no fan or other ventilation, and so small we were stumbling over our luggage, is a lot to adjust to! Luckily we had an adjoining kitchen/lounge area which we shared with a family who was very friendly and accommodating. We had to keep our door propped open, with the window opened in the lounge area, because it was so warm. Otherwise, the kitchen area was great, staff was great, and being so close to Abisko National Park makes this property very desirable.

3rd floor room was ok but it was a surprise to have to make our own beds with the supplied linen. Sloping ceilings over the single beds meant that the only place to stand up safely was near the door. Bathroom on floor shared with occupants of 2 other rooms. Kitchen and lounge were spacious. Great view from sauna.

Good value for a budget stay
There aren't many choices to choose from. We stayed in a twin room (bunk bed) with no window. The room was big enough for the two of us. The air was quite dry in the rooms and my boyfriend struggled to sleep. I was ok. The kitchen is big and there are shelves for free food that other guests have left behind. The showers are clean and there are quite a few WC so you shouldn't have to wait. Hairdryers are available too. At check in there was a box of delicious cookies.
