Delicious food and thoughtful staff. The setting is gorgeous and very close to the Strand as well as several vineyards and shopping. The spa was lovely, two nice swimming pools...we were delighted with our stay. The staff were also very helpful with our young children.
We stayed at the Devon Valley Hotel for a one night stay whilst travelling and found the Hotel plush and polished. Our room had a view out over the valley and was very comfortable. Resturant and bar service was excellent. We had a peacful night's sleep.
My family enjoyed our 3 night stay (2 kids aged 5 and 9, parents and grandparents). The hotel is set in lovely grounds by the river and the staff are friendly. The wine tasting was fun (good wine) and the Eagle Encounters was a hit with the kids. We ate well at each of the restaurants. The hotel is easy access from Cape Town (you can even come by train) and close to Stellenbosch - a beautiful old university town.
This hotel was even more amazing than I thought it was going to be. We arrived just as the sun was setting and enjoyed the most spectacular view from our balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities and rooms were all to an exceptionally high standard. I can't wait to come back again.

We had a wonderful experience during our 3 week stay at The Lord Charles! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The facilities were user friendly and comfortable. The restaurant and service was excellent and the food was at a high standard! Great staff and chef! It was very sad to leave as we felt like family. We will certainly be back there next year!
Well done and thanks to all at The Lord Charles :)
We have been visiting Stellenbosch for a few years and keep returning to this hotel. They have a great variety of rooms to suit all needs. Despite being central, once in the hotel it is really quiet and calm.
Rickety bridge is not a hotel, it is an old victorian house with 3 rooms only, there is no reception. But this is one of the best places we've ever stayed in. It is a beautiful house, the room is just amazing, super clean, super friendly people. You have your own winery and vineyards right there. Breakfast is really good. And if you stay here, the winery doesn't charge you for the wine tasting, only for the cheese platter which is about 50 R.
