Avenida Atlantica
No Rio de Janeiro holiday is complete without a visit to Avenida Atlântica. This avenue is famous for its events year-round, including a massive New Year’s Eve celebration covering the entire avenue and Copacabana Beach. Stroll along the avenue’s promenade to experience Rio’s lively beach culture and oceanfront events.
Play a game of volleyball on Copacabana Beach or cycle on Avenida Atlântica’s bicycle path. The avenue stretches about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) and spans the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Leme. Walking the avenue is a great way to see many impressive buildings, such as Belmond Copacabana Palace, a notable art deco-style luxury hotel.
