Tourist Guide
Lancaster
Lancaster is a beautiful city steeped in history, with the natural beauty and a cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it a unique and interesting place to visit. With accommodation ranging from the traditional to the more modern choice of hotels, Lancaster is a great destination for an English city break with a bit of a difference.

Lancaster Castle is an amazing old castle, which up until a few years ago was also a jail. Explore the cell areas and its interesting architecture that will help you to visualise the stories from yesteryear. Another place worth visiting is Lancaster Brewery, a working brewery that creates real ales and craft beers. With regular tours and knowledgeable guides you can learn all about the process of this locally harvested beer and, of course, enjoy the all-important samples.

Explore Lancashire County

Explore the wider Lancashire area, complete with great beaches, family attractions and the stunning Lancashire countryside. Blackpool is one of the many reasons why Lancashire is such a popular holiday destination. What makes Blackpool so popular, and a favourite holiday resort amongst many, is that there is so much on offer plenty to see and do. A trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a must for the whole family. With rollercoaster and water rides available, there are endless activities to keep everyone entertained all day long.

If you are a fan of the theatre, Blackpool Theatre offers a varied entertaining programme to suit all. Take a trip to the top of Blackpool Tower with outstanding views across Lancashire. And if you are lucky, on a clear day you might even spot Manchester.

Visit Lancashire Museums

Visit the Queen Street Mill Textile Museum and witness the last surviving 19th century steam powered weaving mill in action. This Museum brings to life days from a bygone era when cotton was the top source of income for the Lancashire area.

The Keighley Bus Museum in nearby Burnley is also worth a visit a mixture of fully restored buses and other exhibits at various stages of restoration provide great insight and history into the life of buses in early 20th century England.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Bowland Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty, provides the perfect opportunity to escape city life, enabling you to explore this stunning part of Lancashire. If you enjoy the great outdoors and interesting wildlife then you will certainly enjoy a visit to Bowland Forest.

Famous for its links to the now legendary tales of the notorious witch trials of 1612, Pendle Hill and its surrounding towns and villages could be described as a more bewitching area of Lancashire. Learn the story or the legend behind the Pendle Witches as you take the opportunity to walk or cycle through this impressive countryside.

The town centre didn't have a lot of independent shops but on our trip there was a market selling hot food from around the world. We'd had a big breakfast so didn't take advantage but it all looked and smelled fab. Loads of great pubs n bars.
