Bordered by the Ohio River and Lake Erie, Ohio attracts visitors for its outdoor activities, cultural centers and big-city excitement. 

Ohio’s Great Lakes location made it an early center for U.S. expansion. Visit the state for a variety of active outdoor pursuits and cultural attractions.

Enjoy Toledo’s diverse attractions: the Toledo Museum of Art for culture aficionados, the National Museum of the Great Lakes for history buffs, the world-famous Toledo Mud Hens baseball team for sports fans and the Toledo Zoo for the whole family. View the city’s skyline from a Maumee River cruise boat.

Explore the seven floors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Stars from a different field are honored at Canton’s Pro Football Hall of Fame, operating since 1963. The city’s orchestra, art museum and playhouses offer excellent cultural opportunities. Enjoy professional football, baseball or basketball or visit one of Cleveland’s many breweries and watch sports on TV over a beer.

Take kids to COSI, the Columbus center of science and industry, for hands-on explorations in ocean, energy and space fields. Ride in a space capsule, build a bridge or be a lab scientist. Tour the campus of The Ohio State University, established in 1870. The OSU Buckeyes, some of America’s best college athletes, play various sports throughout the year. Find restaurants, bars and shops surrounding the college.

Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park offers a scenic railway ride and trails to waterfalls. Walk or bike along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail and imagine yourself in the early 1800s when mules towed canal boats, the primary commercial transportation of the day.

Cincinnati, in the southern part of the state, has great cultural attractions as well: a children’s museum, zoo, conservatory and the Cincinnati Reds professional baseball team. Enjoy the skyline along Riverwalk. Visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to learn about the role Northerners played in helping slaves from southern states reach freedom.

Residents and visitors love Ohio’s festivals. Every February, Bowling Green puts on a three-day Winterfest event. Come to Marysville in August for the All Ohio Balloon Festival.
