Laem Singh Beach

Discover this hidden miniature paradise, one of Phuket’s most beautiful beach destinations.

Laem Singh Beach sits in a secluded bay, between Kamala and Surin beaches, on Phuket’s west coast. At only 150 metres long, this stretch of fine sand surrounded by palm trees could be considered as the island’s “hidden gem”.

Due to its long-standing popularity with Italian tourists, Laem Singh has earned the nickname “The Italian Beach”. There are small restaurants built of bamboo with thatched roofs, nestled amongst the palm trees, and you will find many serving surprisingly authentic Neapolitan dishes, although Thai specialities and seafood are also available.

Burn off some energy by renting a bodyboard and diving into the waves at the north end of the beach, or explore the colourful sea life amongst the rocks at the south end of the beach. You can hire snorkelling equipment from the nearby restaurants. Kayaks are also available, should you want to head out on a longer adventure.

Alternatively, just lie back and soak up the sun. Both sun loungers and parasols can be rented from the restaurants, and they will even bring you food and drinks so you don’t have to move from your spot. For the ultimate in relaxation, treat yourself to a Thai massage in the shade of the palm trees.

Laem Singh Beach closes at 6:30 pm, apart from on Sundays in the high season, November to May. This is when the party starts, as the beach plays host to international DJs and musicians. Celebrities and models such as Kate Moss have been spotted at the Laem Singh Lounge Bar.

Laem Singh Beach is approximately 13 kilometres to the south of Patong Beach. Car parking is available at the top of the headland, for a fee. The beach is accessed by climbing down from the top of the promontory. The paths can be a challenge for some, and the descent will take 5 to 10 minutes. Alternatively you can travel by longboat from Kamala or Patong Beach.
