Seckbach is a charming district of Frankfurt, known for its verdant parks and activities. It is an ideal family destination. In its historical old town, see a collection of preserved half-timbered houses, including the Old Lutheran School of Seckbachs from 1709 and the Seckbach Town Hall, built in 1524.

Visit some of the district’s vast, open parks on a typically warm summer’s day. Wander along the pleasant trails and do some sunbathing in the middle of one of the large fields in the 45-acre (18-hectare) Huth Park.Lay down a blanket for a picnic or have a meal made from seasonal produce at BERGstation, set in a building from the late 1920s that has been lovingly restored to now house a café and restaurant.

A little northeast from Huth Park is the Lohrpark, which is flanked by rows of majestic trees and contains Frankfurt’s only urban vineyard. Arrive in fall to see the picturesque changing colors of the trees’ foliage. Locals come here on New Year’s Eve to see the fireworks from the park’s viewpoint, which is the city’s highest natural point.

Follow the paths in the Seckbacher Ried to explore some of the 17 acres (7 hectares) of wetlands and forest.

Winters in Frankfurt can be fairly cold and wet, but don’t let bad weather deter your exploration of Seckbach. Head indoors and examine the intriguing car models in the Klassikstadt Frankfurt. The institution sells and displays classic cars. Stay in this district into the evening and enjoy a few drinks at the Batschkapp venue, which has an alternative atmosphere and live rock acts.

Find the district in the northeastern corner of Frankfurt in western Germany. Arrive at the Frankfurt Airport and drive northeast for 14 miles (23 kilometers) to get here.
