Beautiful city. Still, like so many other Italian cities, an issue with rubbish.
Ortigia is excellent. Syracuse is good for the archeological site, transport but little else.
Would love to go back. For a relatively small area there was so much more we wish we had time to see and experience. Very beautiful place.
Ortigia is beautiful however Syracuse needs a good clean. Everything you need is in Ortigia so you only need to go to Syracuse for a few attractions and these can be easily reached by the hop on hop off bus at €5 each per day its quick, cheap and eas
There are plenty of nice places but also a lot of run down places in between so if you dont have a hire car you will struggle as requires alot of driving.
