Go to Nyborg Castle and visit a place that has had great importance in Danish history. The castle is dated from about 1170 and it contains Danehofsalen, where the king held meetings with his parliament in the Middle Ages. The hall is also the place where Denmark's first constitution was signed. In the grounds of the castle you will find Nyborg Voldspil, which is one of Denmark's oldest open air theatres with many performances all year round.
You can go further back in history, when you visit The Relics at Lykkesholm with Magelund Voldsted and Langdysserne at Lindeskov. Magelund Voldsted was a large fortress and one of Denmark's most protected in the Middle Ages, but now there is only the grounds left. North of the valley is Lindeskov where you can see relics from the Stone Age with Denmark's longest preserved langdysse, which is 168 m and a graveyard from the Stone Age.
At special times of the year you can join a guided tour to Sprogø, where you can see unique plant and animal life. The island is also logistically very important in Denmark and from here you can enjoy the view of Storebæltsbroen (The Storebælt Bridge). Use this opportunity to get very close to the bridge from a different angle than you are used to.
As Nyborg is on the coast, you will have ample opportunity to take part in various water sports. If you go on a porpoise safari, you can see both porpoises and seals and also experience Nyborg, Sprogø and Storebæltsbroen (The Storebælt bridge) from the waterside.
