La Paz Theater

La Paz Theater
With its indoor auditorium and external amphitheater, the city’s cultural center is an ideal place to attend the Day of the Dead celebrations.

La Paz Theater is one of the city’s artistic hubs, where you can see all types of concerts, exhibitions and movie screenings. Founded in 1986, the theater is a key part of the Professor Jesús Castro Agúndez cultural center. Choose from dance, opera and a variety of performing arts in the site’s majestic auditorium.

Bring the whole family to one of the children’s shows that are regularly put on in the indoor theater, which has a capacity of 1,343. Marvel at the flamboyant outfits and dance displays for performances celebrating festivals, such as the Day of the Dead. The complex also hosts political and religious events, conferences and exhibitions. Get tickets for seats in the gallery or on the first and second floors.

Appreciate the style of the large block building of the theater, which has its name and inauguration year printed in large red letters. The cultural center has an intriguing design, made up of buildings of varying shapes and sizes. See the elegant fountain marking the side of the theater. Surrounding it are classy white lanterns and palm trees. Admire the modern sculptures and monuments adorning the complex’s exterior.

Check out the intriguing expositions and art displays alongside occasional cultural events. Watch a show in the outdoor auditorium during a hot evening from June through September.

Enter La Paz Theater for free. It opens Monday through Friday from morning until late evening. The theater is in the central district of the city, a little south of the Zona Comercial. Walk south from the heart of the Malecón coastal promenade for less than 30 minutes to get here. You can also drive, as the theater has a large parking lot.

Visit some of the neighboring sights, such as the Plaza de los Mariachis, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary.
