With beaches, mountains, gardens and a forest, Anglet in France's Basque Country is a great place to experience outdoor life. Anglet has 11 beaches, all with their own unique flavour. If you are into surfing, head for Les Cavaliers, where professional surfers can be seen in competitions. Many families with children, as well as surfers, go to Marinella Beach. You will find a beach club and two surf schools here. Les Dunes is a rugged beach that borders the Chiberta Golf Course. It attracts many nudists, although nudity is prohibited on the town's beaches.
Enjoy a day of fun and adventure in Chiberta Forest. Hike, horse ride or travel on a Segway along marked out paths among the trees. Travel through treetops on zip lines, rope courses and across jungle bridges. There are five adventure courses spread across nearly 4 acres (1.5 hectares) of forest.
Anglet also charms with its host of indoor attractions, including bowling lanes, an ice rink and cinema. See turtles, sharks and seals at the Museum of the Sea and check out the Asian art collection in the Asiatic Museum.
If you are in Anglet on Thursday or Sunday mornings, browse the stalls of Quintaou Market. Try local produce such as Bayonne ham and creamy almond Basque cake. For dinner, reserve a table at a seafront restaurant. There are more than 40 bordering the Sables d’Or beach.
