Bulcock Beach

Clear ocean waters, a dazzling stretch of sandy shore, warm paddling pools and a beachside boardwalk combine to make this a classic seaside getaway.

This flawless beach, with its picturesque waterfront and views of Bribie Island, is a perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of the Sunshine Coast. Warm waters lead south into the Pumicestone Passage, between the mainland and Bribie Island. The beach is popular with families because of its shallow waters, grassy knolls and seaside picnic areas. Away from the water enjoy the esplanade’s shade, viewing platforms and seats to rest upon.

Pick up fish and chips, spread out a blanket or sit at a table underneath the permanent umbrellas on the esplanade and enjoy a lazy day relaxing under the sun. Cool off in the calm waters of the river inlet while appreciating the stunning views of Bribie Island in the south and the Glass House Mountains behind the beach.

Take a cruise south along the Pumicestone Passage or paddle, Jet Ski or swim in the surrounding shallow waters. When the tide is right, head out into the surf with your fishing rod and tackle to catch the day’s meal. Prepare salad and cook the fish on one of the beach barbecues.

Bring a book and read or doze in the shade of the trees along the boardwalk. Walk east to the point near Happy Valley and relax on the grassy area. The point is also a popular place for surfers. Back on the beach, take a walk west where the esplanade connects with Bulcock Street. Here find cafés, clothing and speciality stores. On Sunday is the well-known Caloundra Street Fair with over 200 stalls of handicrafts, coffee, gourmet food, produce and flowers to explore.

A number of accommodations options are available by Bulcock Beach, including apartments and hotels. The beachis patrolled by lifesavers between September and May. Located in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Bulcock Beach is an 80-minute drive north of Brisbane and a 30-minute drive from Maroochydore and Mooloolaba.
