Dolphinarium
Enjoy some family-friendly entertainment at Varadero’s Dolphinarium (Delfinario). Watch, communicate and interact with pods of trained and sociable dolphins. Understand why this marine mammal is widely considered to be one of the world’s most intelligent species. The Dolphinarium has six interaction pools and a performance arena with seating for over 250 people all set amid an area of picturesque natural greenery.
Come for one of the two dolphin shows that take place each day. See dolphins balance balls on their noses, catch fish, jump through rings, propel balls into a basketball hoop and seemingly stand on their tails. Marvel as they work in tandem, thus making the shows even more spectacular. Observe as guides get lifted several feet into the air before splashing into the water.
For the ultimate experience, sign up for a dolphin swim. Speed around the pools while holding onto one of their fins. Try a surf-like activity, where two of the mammals will push your feet and glide you across the water. Thank the playful dolphins for their efforts with a cuddle, kiss and fin shake.
There are other animals to see at the aquarium, too. Spot baby crocodiles, pelicans and sea lions. Pose for a photo while holding an iguana. Purchase drinks and snacks at the center’s café and browse for souvenirs at the gift shop.
Situated towards the north of Varadero’s peninsula, this entertainment center is a short drive from the resort’s hotels. Parking is available outside the main entrance.
The Dolphinarium is open daily and there is an admission fee. There are two shows and four swims per day. An additional fee is applicable if you want to do the dolphin swimming activities and also to enter with your own camera. Photos and videos of the swims are offered for a fee. Changing facilities are available should you wish to take a shower after your swim.
