Good value and in a convenient location.
All the staff were friendly, the room was comfortable but looked a little tired. A couple of the lights were fiddly to switch on and even with all lights on the room it was a little gloomy as the curtains needed to be kept drawn for privacy as the room looked directly out onto the road junction where cars where stopped at the traffic lights outside. As expected in an older property floors were uneven and creaky, but that meant early departures/late arrivals were rather noisy. Nice toiletries and refreshments provided. Very hot at night unless you remembered to adjust the air-con unit. Parking space was a bonus.

Our Overnight stay at the Bear Hotel
From the time we arrived to the time of departure , the management and staff could not be more helpful. Very happy and accommodating throughout our stay. Food was 100% and vey filling as well! Would totally recommend to family and friends to stay there if in Esher at all. We would definitely go back again.

The Bear is my Hotel of choice when attending the Royal Artillery Gold Cup at Sandown Park. It is within walking distance of the race course, has above average amenities and copes with a large crowd of rather loud veteran servicemen post races with friendliness and humour. Millie, who was on duty on the day of arrival and on departure was exceptional. A charming, helpful and lovely young lady who made an old soldier very welcome.

Lovely stay in a lovely hotel/pub
Lovely hotel/pub. Despite the rooms being above a pub you cannot hear any noise from the pub in the evening. All staff are very friendly.

Very convenient for Sandown park where we attended an event. It is quirky, but comfortable so long as you can cope with stairs well. The breakfast was the most expensive I have ever eaten. There is very limited parking on site, but plentiful in a side road with 2 hour free timed slots, not counting from 6pm to 8 am.

Lovely staff
The staff were so helpful. I enjoyed my stay, the food was really good. The car parking is a bit restricted, but I was able to get in throughout my stay. I would recommend the hotel as a really friendly place to stay.

The entire hotel was wonderful. The staff were brilliant, breakfast was incredible and I want to redecorate my whole house so it looks similar. I would definetley stay again!

A Gem of a first class hotel
Booked as near to the Hampton court flower show The 2 rooms we booked exceeded expectations , it’s put some 5 star hotels we have stayed at to shame. The breakfast was brilliant a very full English Our thanks to all the staff for making us so welcome

OK at best
Great food but be warned if you want to sleep dont bother staying here. The location is on a VERY busy road that has lorries/ HGVs shaking the building until very late at night and from the early hours. Service was slow, waited 10 minutes to check in and the bar staff were not keen to move away from the bar to take orders, if you could find any staff at all. The food was great both evening meal and breakfast but this place is let down by the excessive noise and the lack of service from its staff.

Lovely hotel but some niggles.
The hotel was nicely decorated and rooms were cosy and stylish. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Comfortable beds and lovely bathroom products. The room itself was noisy- both from staff ‘out back’ and from a constant whirring overnight (possibly the boiler) which meant I struggled to sleep in room 4. The room was warm and as windows don’t open, needed to use aircon which added to the noise. Reasonably priced minibar, unfortunately no sugar provided for the complimentary tea and Nespresso (we could have asked for this but it was morning and we were due down to breakfast anyway). Breakfast service was slow but food was delicious and good-sized portions.

Go and enjoy the experience .
Just a flying visit a one night/2 days away, meeting a friend for a leisurely lunch at the hotel, then meeting up with family next day. Staff very welcoming, all helpful nice to talk to, would do anything for you.Food wonderful good menu.Rooms comfortable and nice.
