Hard pillows and broken TV
Room was OK but mattress has seen better days and we didn't like the large hard pillows. My wife woke up with a stiff neck. Two smaller soft pillows would be better. Also it was impossible to watch TV as the sound and picture were broken due to a bad connection to the aerial.

Good check in but terrible room ! No window bathroom door would not close electric table light had a faulty switch so had to turn off at the wall and not sound proof so aircraft notice was terrible

Not the best
Had to wait at reception for over 15 mins with no acknowledgement or apology for wait. Room was like a cell with no windows and only a sky light which let in light at night so resulting in very poor sleep. Bath room was dirty which had dried body fluids on the shower wall. I will never stay here again. No phone signal either

Lovely olde hotel full of character and charm. My room was sensible and bed very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. I will stay again. If you are looking for 5 star luxury this not you place. If you want olde English style and grace. You will love it.

fine for what we wanted (somewhere near to Gatwick for a flight the next day). But if a shame that you have to ask reception to open and close the blind on the skylight, it had been a long day and at the time felt like too much effort, however it was quite bright in the morning and I wish I had asked for it to be closed. You can hear the planes but being that close to the airport it is expected. Great hotel if you want a room for the night before or after a flight, especially as it looks as though they do parking packages with stays too.

British Cosiness
Nice cozy place, located in the countryside of Horley. It has a traditional English feel. And while the rooms could use a little makeover, they are clean and appear to be looked after.

The room we were allocated was freezing cold, radiators in the room and corridor were not on. After reporting this to reception we were given another room. Tried usinge the cash machine 3 times each attempt failed, not even the lady on reception knew how to sort it out. Parts of the hotel were cold and smelled of damp, lounge heaters not working. Would have thought being it is winter the heating would be on and working, very disappointed.

It was freezing cold. Had to wait forever for the receptionist to show up when I wanted to check out. The heater in the room made weird sounds turned it off cause I was scared its gonna set the room on fire over night. And shower was so hard to turn off.

The property is incredibly tired, with the fixtures and fittings of the room incredibly worn and in some parts, broken. The bed was uncomfortable and the room itself was boiling hot (in January) which led to me having the fan on all evening on its maximum setting. I had a problem with my shower which was, in fairness fixed within 3 hours, but the receptionist made me feel like I'd broken it and interrogated me about it when I went down to report it. The parking, whilst free, was a nightmare as a business traveller, as you could never find anywhere to park up upon return. I do not think I'll be staying here again.

Full of Immigrants in the foyet.. Crowding around with phones getting the free wifi. Not a good look. Its cheap yes. But they even have a separate room to eat their mesls. Not blaming anyone. Its the middle of no where. Phone signal isnt good.. just dont expect lots of immigrants starung at you making YOU look like the outsider... when you stay just before your holiday..

Low price does not guarantee excellent value.
The hotel is tired and the room needed a deep clean. The breakfast offering was poor, with undrinkable “coffee” and a over-sweet, sickly, brightly coloured drink that didn’t resemble orange juice. Good points were the low price and free parking. Bad points were the rowdy behaviour of other guests in the evening and having breakfast disturbed by the relationship difficulties of a staff member.

This place, like all Britannia hotels really really need a refurb! It just feels like you’re going back in time and staying in the 80s/90s with the room having very old toilet, bath - as they all had chips and cracks. There were the old style ashtrays on the wall and a rusty bottle opener on the wall too. It was ok for a 1 night stay. And for the price (£28) I can’t complain. However, I’ve stayed at 2 of these types of hotels and it feels like they don’t want to spend the money in upgrades and are living off of their historical name. Staff were nice and the bed was decent.
