Qingdao's local cuisine is known as shandong, but Sichuan and Cantonese dishes are also served at the restaurants on Yunxiao Road, the city's main restaurant street. Minjiang Road contains more international restaurants. Cheaper places to eat can be found on Qingdao's small streets and in dumpling restaurants. Beer lovers may enjoy Tsingtao Brewery tours, complete with free samples, but visitors can also sample the city's most famous beer at several German-style beer gardens.Shopping
Taidong Pedestrian Street is where visitors can purchase all manner of things from pedlars after dark, while Central Hong Kong Road is where most modern Qingdao shopping centres, department stores, and Western grocery shops are situated. The recently retro-fitted Zhong Shan Lu contains some of the city's older shops, while the Jimo Lu Market is best known for its wide variety of counterfeit designer goods.
