The hotel wasn't what I thought Old and dirty, decrepit and we got an 'upgrade' room...I wonder what an other room looks like. I took some pictures : Stained carpet, cracks in the walls, moldy bathroom ceiling and so on. Really not happy at all

Spent a week at the hotel. What I liked: location - walkable to many major attractions in Paris Centre. 30 seconds from the metro Chatelet. The room was charming. I liked the toile on the wall and the exposed wooden beams. The room was exceedingly clean and housekeeping tidied every day and changed the pillow linens. The breakfast was copious though I grew tired of the same offering after a week. Finally the staff was very friendly and helpful. The weak points: the room that I had is in need of some TLC. While clean , it was run down and shabby and could benefit from a ‘cure’. Despite being on a very small side street, it was very noisy. It seemed to have garbage removal every single day along with other service trucks throughout the week. The construction work on the building next door starts early and lasts all day. Glad we were out and about most of the day to miss it. You can often hear people talking or listening to the television in neighbouring rooms. Finally, the room does not have individualized climate control. Throughout most of the time we were there the heat was on. Some nights we had to sleep with the window open as it reached 25C. Would I stay there again? Yes. It is good value. It is a great location. The neighbourhood appears quite safe and in proximity to services, and sites of interest. It is a three-star hotel after all and not the Ritz. If you are expecting five-star accommodation, look elsewhere. Thank you for the visit!

As good as it gets for a 3 star hotel in Paris. Well-located, but a bit noisy because of proximity of Rue de Rivoli. Room had a fridge and a safe, which is unusual for a 3-star hotel. Staff very nice.

Close to the Louvre!
Loved this old hotel. It was built in the 1500’s! It is in the perfect location! Close to the Seine River, The Louvre and the Norte Dame Cathedral. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. If you’re looking for perfectly modern, you’re in the wrong place but if you want charming (some things a little outdated) at a decent rate, this is your place!

The beds were comfy, breakfast tasty and there was plenty of it, our bedroom was a good size and only a short walk to restaurants and a metro station. The room had a musty smell and in places it was dusty. We enjoyed our stay

Breakfast was extremely weak. Our room was very run down room. Toilets were not cleaned the 2nd day of our stay. Staff was good. Rooms in the pic and actual room were very different.

Good location, OK hotel.
Good location--easy to and from the airport. i found the bed to be uncomfortable--it was just 2 twin frames pushed together. My room was clean, but very worn. it looks like some rooms are being renovated, so I did have to deal with the noise from this during the day when I was in my room. Staff was helpful, and they have umbrellas for use if needed, which I did.

Perfect location, great experience!
The location is so convenient! Although it is an older hotel, the tiny elevator does the job perfectly! The free luggage storage service gives you more flexibility on the day you check out, which is great! The buffet-style breakfast is also excellent,it gives you enough energy to walk for long hours in the Louvre. The mattress is great and comfortable too. The staff are all friendly, and a special thanks to George at the front desk. He is so nice and willing to help us call a cab and load luggage into the car on a rainy day.

Loved loved loved this hotel. Very “French” decor. All staff were friendly and helpful chose it as it was in our desired area our desired place and has a balcony. We very much enjoyed the end of the day with a cognac on the balcony.

Overall we had a great experience. The most important thing about this hotel is location! The rooms are good size considering its location. When we checked in, we got a room on the highest floor (6th). We thought the view must be nice but the room did not have any view. Also it had a bathtub with no shower which was a pain. So we asked for another room were we could take shower! The staff were nice and friendly, they said we could switch our room the next day. So we got a room on the 1st floor on day 2 that had a tiny but nice shower. It was early in Oct and the room was still hot but the AC did not work. When we enquired, they said they turn off the hotel AC in October and that is why AC does not work. They gave us a small fan which helped a bit. The weather got better the following days and we had no need for it. I recommend this hotel if you care about location.

Love this place
Short stay @ our fav city & our long-time fav Parisian hotel. Location & hotel staff are awesome. Only drawback to this particular stay was the lack of consistent internet connection. Frustrating as we had German and Polish family health concerns that we needed to keep abreast of.

This is a 16th century jewel. The room was tiny, yet exquisitely quaint and charming. The staff was friendly and helpful. One man at the desk provided stamps and mailed my postcards for me. Another woman at the desk took photos of us upon seeing us try some selfies. Great restaurants are around the corner and we were within walking distance of Notre Dame and the Louvre. The hotel provides maps and umbrellas. Breakfast was very nice with excellent coffee and plenty of good food.

If you like an old antique hotel then this is the place for you. Small room with not very many amenities. They could not even replenish the coffee in the room. But I chose it for its location to The Louvre and Notre Dame. The staff was nice but didn’t like having to hand in my room key every time I went out.

The property was unique and was close to many of the sights. However, it was not in a great location and our travel party had a security incident. They offer physical keys and you must lock the door behind you. After one of our visitors left without fully locking the door, someone outside of the hotel came in and stole electronics. The hotel manager was not very helpful and simply told us to take it up with the police and it was our fault for not locking the door. I don't necessarily disagree with them, but simply stating the situation so folks understand the area and the risks related to staying at this property.

This hotel is a lovely gem tucked one block away from busy central streets. All around are excellent restaurants, shopping, and great people watching. The Louvre is a 15 minute walk, Notre Dame is 20 minutes away, and I am a slow walker. The staff is exceptional. Each one super helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent. I don't think the write up on Expedia or the hotel's website makes it clear you have scrambled eggs, a soft or hard boiled egg device (DIY), sausage, multiple pastries, yogurt, fruit cocktail, dried fruit, juice, slices of ham, cheese, and a hot beverage machine. All this for 15 euros! And probably other things I've forgotten. My flight arrived early in the day, and they honored my request for early check in.

Rooms didn’t look like advertised, not sure if it even was the room I booked. Was supposed to get complimentary charger, newspaper and map of Paris. Got none of that. The last night in the hotel and the next day there was no hot water in the rooms due to renovations. Credit of $30 is a bit measly when you fly out on an 11 hour flight and can’t have a shower before hand…

The rooms look nothing like the pictures on-line. We’ve stayed in Europe many times before and know what to expect but this was not good. Our shower didn’t drain and although we notified them six days in a row, nothing was done. We ran out of soap, tissues and toilet paper on different days. The room was clean for the most part but the size of the bathroom would be very difficult for anyone who is more than an average size. Our towels had holes in them and the furnishings in the room were shabby. They also informed us that there would be construction during the day so it would be noisy. Compared to other hotels that we’ve stayed in during trips to Paris, this one was not good. On a good note, most of the staff was very friendly and helpful so that was much appreciated.

Great little find. Súper convenient. The furthest attraction is the Eiffel Tower and even that is doable. This hotel meets all your basic needs and they are done well. Even the breakfast was nice. Almost all lobby staff were pleasant and helpful. Lastly we found some great restaurants all around this area. Would definitely stay here again

We stayed in the superior room. It was very nice, clean, good atmosphere with classical decor and medieval look. Room was large enough by Paris standards and very high ceilings makes a big difference. Has elevator albeit very small. Close to shops, restaurants, Metro and Seine. Would stay here again.

"Hotel De-champaigne" more like "Motel De-beer"
I visited Grand Hotel Dechampaigne on a business trip and had to book it last second. I stayed on the top floor (6) and the elevator only went up to floor 5, which was okay as I am young and healthy. It was 33 C outside, and the AC gave off an extremely loud sound every 2 minutes or so. This was not possible to turn off. Imagine trying to sleep and every 2 minutes someone starts drilling into your walls while also playing a foghorn sound. It was unbearable. Even with the AC off the sound would keep happening for hours. The room had furniture and details which looked to be at least 30-40 years old, which to me is okay since I like the 80s/90s retro vibe. Old plastic details that had turned yellow and such. Not very "Grand". It is located next door to some sort of homeless shelter or drug rehabilitation center, which I of course support in itself, and it wasn't a problem for me since I'm a big guy, but if you're a solo female this might be a scary experience. I'm not the type of person to complain about hotels or traveling, in fact I believe this is my first time ever doing so. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced.

The location is great, as are the lobby and staff. The rooms are clean but very, very tired, in need of a major renovation 20 years ago. The common areas (stairs, corridors) look like they were last cleaned 40 years ago with absolutely filthy carpets. Good location as I said, but should be $75-100 less for the quality.

The ac was not working and the sink would not drain. I paid extra to stay somewhere with ac and they did not inform me of the situation at check in. Additionally they did not do anything to make the situation better at all. They took no responsibility and had an “oh well” attitude.

The property is old and is showing its age. Beyond the rather limited elevator that can only be used by two people at a time, we had a horrible buzzing noise in our room that would go off for 5 seconds every minute when running the air conditioning. We told staff; they didn't do anything to fix it during the stay. We finally got more traction when checking out. We had a weird security incident. Someone entered one of our rooms, open a window and leave the door unlocked. It wasn't housekeeping. Nothing was taken. We don't know what happened there, but it was weird. The location is pretty convenient for walking to the Louvre and Notre Dame. It's also right next to a very large underground train station (Chatalet) - use exit 13 or 14 to get there. You may spend 11 minutes walking around underground, and possibly paying twice to get through security though. One note about the immediate area around the hotel - it did smell like an open sewer because of people peeing in the streets. Also, we got pickpocketed at the train station. WiFi worked but the internet was very slow. Breakfast was ok but perhaps not worth the money given the number of restaurants and bakeries and cafes nearby. This wasn't horrible, but it was really expensive for a place with two red flags (security incident unfixed noise).

While this hotel is older and smaller, the location and staff were great. Georges at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful. It is very near a Metro stop. The air conditioning and shower water pressure were excellent.

A friend recommended this Hotel to us and it was perfect for our needs. It’s close to great dining options. It’s located very close to the Châtelet Metro station which is gives great access to many metro lines and key transportation points in metro Paris. Great shopping nearby and many of the major tourist destinations. The locals were friendly and courteous and patient as we tried out our French. All in all a great visit to the great city.
