Lovely hotel, good room except WiFi bit, only available in lobby, strange for a 4 star hotel The check-out is early (10:00am) Fantastic views of Ooty so it’s in a great location

The hotel was pleasant and a good location to explire the wider Ooty area. As a business traveller, I would have liked to have WiFi access in my room not just the hotel lobby. However, i do understand that this is a family hotel with a large number of time share properties. Staff were friendly and overall my stay was very pleasant.

Hotel room had good view. But the location of the hotel is quite remote, with bad roads it is a bit difficult. If you have your own vehicle should not be a problem or the hotel was efficient to arrange for transport.

Pleasant stay with no WIFI !!
It was a pleasant stay at the sterling hotels.The view from the room was awesome. the service was good , the breakfast was nice with a lot of variety. only thing i can point is that they have no wifi in the rooms , it is available at the reception area but not i n the rooms. other than that our stay was comfortable with the courteous staff of Sterling , we loved it. A good hotel
It was good overall, the internet was too slow and we couldn't get a good signal in our room. the location is a bit interior but otherwise a good place to stay. the hotel is more suited for families with kids rather than a couple looking for a quiet holiday.

Nice hotel in Ooty
The hotel is undergoing renovation. The renovated rooms are excellent. The lift was not working and we were informed that repairs will take 10 days. The manager and other office staff are very helpful. Vegetarian food is excellent. Breakfast spread was top notch (we had taken the continental plan). We had a pleasant stay.

Not worth the money
Not much ventilation, rooms are over priced. Had to ask for the welcome kit and water. Few lights weren't working. Around 3700 rs a day for such a room seemed too costly. No balcony. A very small window for fresh air. It seemed like we were locked in basement. Will check other hotels next time, not this one.

Was given room 5 floors down in the basement. Had moldy smell & the generators are not switched on so if the lights go off then there will be no elevator service. Room service is lousy. It is far away from the main town and the approach is pretty bad.

An average hotel..
The hotel is just OK....nothing great to share. Had booked 3 rooms...rooms were clean, comfy beds...but the way to the rooms from the lobby was horrible...old/torn out/wet carpets...filthy walls...in one room closet was not working...however great breakfast...and reasonably good location...except the way to hotel from ooty town which is clumsy..

One of the best resort in ooty..
I travelled with my family on march 16th 2013 and it was really a pleasant stay at Sterling Elk hill. I liked the location calm and quite environment. Nicely maintained, food is really superb. I recommend everyone to try Sterling elk hill whenever you are planning for a ooty trip as you can get a good resort at a good price. Very prompt services and the hotel is neatly maintained.

Hotel is nice, well kept and clean. However, difficulty of conveyance to and from hotel is a challenge as you have to be dependent on cab/hotel provided transport. Food is really nice however, menu needs a little more of variety.

Overall the stay was pleasant with amenities like room heater, bath linens, hot water kettle, welcome drinks etc,. The hotel staff were polite and very co-operative. One disappointment was, we were made to wait for 15-20 mins for the complimentary breakfast as the person at front desk wasn't aware that the breakfast was getting served at a floor below instead of regular place. Also, the resort is located in a hill for which there are no proper guidance boards when driving from bus stand side. Could've been better.

We had a pleasant stay except for our room was close to the party hall which was disturbing. Ask for a room at level 1 or 2 and never at level -1. Other than that, excellent hotel with pleasing surroundings. Great food and helpful staff.

Food at the hotel was really bad and they severed us with a spolied food which the hotel management after i got that to there notice didnt even bother to check with me during my stay. so that was a real deal breaker for me as this being my first stay was expecting a far better service from such a reputed hotel.

I am not at all satisfied about the quality of the hotel. I was given a damaged cot and it was changed after a big fight. There was no response for the calls for more than 45 min and I had to go to reception physically to complain about it. There is no quality check before allocating the room to guests. I was unable to take rest when needed and had to spoil mood and time due to the incident. I will never recommend Sterling Elk Hill (Ooty) to any one and I will never choose the same again in my life.
