Great for short stays
Lovely staff from check-in to security to passing cleaners in the hall. All so lovely. Room and shared bathrooms where clean and I had no issues being disrupted by other guests. I did have the issue of VERY loud banging pipes which I was aware of thanks to other reviews so was prepared for but couldnt have handled more than the single night I stayed. I would stay here again as single nights but not longer as its hard to get quality sleep.

A great property. Security is excellent, gym facilities extremely useful for someone who needs to maintain their gym schedule. Beds are a bit stiff for my taste, but beside that, a great hotel with a bit of a hostel feel

All as expected for a stay at the Y. Only issue -ongoing- is the noises made by the heat radiators, especially on level 6. Expect to be disturbed/awoken from the clanging when they heat up!

The place is fine and in a great location. There was pipes banging in the walls every little while. Glad I had earplugs. ice to have a place to workout. I would stay again.

This is a great location and check in was very quick. The room was extremely small but i expected that, no big deal. My room was in the hallway with the bathrooms and acccess the stairs. The doors to the bathrooms and stairs slammed shut and this went on all through the night. The radiator made crazy loud noises randomly thorough the night as well. The bed was so uncomfortable that I'd wake up in pain every morning. I was in nyc for training and wanted to save my company money which is why i chose this hotel. By the end of the week i was exhausted from lack of restful sleep.

Hotel with great gym and pool .
Stayed there for 3 nights . Check in was quick . Room was small but comfortable and clean. Shared bath room on the floor was adequate and clean . The gym and pool are something for everything and the sauna should not be missed . The location is a little out of way which is a little quiet at night but still looks safe .

I could get bath towels everyday. The location is really nice. Staffs are fine and they have systems to keep bags but it costs two dollars.

My experience was unfortunately disappointing overall. And I wouldn’t be fair to date this place as a rest place for guests coming from a far or even in general. But I guess if you like rude customer service and little to no space in your room. I would say I rather say nothing than say anything at all. Wouldn’t recommend this place . There’s better places to stay in NYC. Just do your research guys :-) Enjoy .

Returning to YMCA NY after 30 years.
I love being able to use the fantastic fitness facilities while there. The bathrooms were very nice and the location is great. Left luggage was very handy. Concierge was good - all staff were helpful.

Does it’s job
It’s shabby and there were many noises throughout the night. I’m use to European hostels which apparently are more modern and comfortable and this was a disappointment. The last minute price is good but if you can in advance you can get very good deals in a hotel. all that said it was a last minute bed, it did it’s job, I slept and shower there, but I would rather go somewhere else next time.

Access to the gym and fitness facilities is a big plus. Location is also a winner. It’s relatively expensive for a hostel, but incredibly well-positioned in Manhattan it’s worth it

Great location, everything else is disappointment.
Place is very noisy with noise which is coming mainly through the pipelines and then through the walls. Room itself is very small and look much bigger at the picture then in reality. Guest have no any chance ti control level of temperature in the room so, it was too hot in the room that air was so dry and unpleasant to breathe. Opening of window was the only solution to get some "fresh" air from outside and to cool down the room, despite the fact that at the window is sticker which indicates that windows shouldn't be opened. What irritates me the most is the fact that hotel is not providing any kind (even the most simple model) of slippers which createing a lot of inconveniences for guest when need to use toilet and shower. I was in hostels in New York which sell you the most cheapest slippers for orice of 1$ and they are good enough to use them for toilet and shower. In addition, payment of 40$ upon arrival to the hotel is unclear for me. What am I paying for 40$? If is that for gym or any other additional service which hostel is offer (and which I was not using because of lack of the time) then, it should be charged from guest only if guest show interests to use additional services and not in advance, regardless guests interest to use it or not. Only positive thing related to this hostel is location, which fulfills my needs, everything else require a huge improvement.

Do your self a favour and do not stay here!
The hostel was terrible! The only good point was they made the bed everyday didn’t empty the bins the blind didn’t open the desk ( what was left of it) was worn As was the rest of the room! the room had not been cleaned behind the bed as I lost something and had to move it away from the wall and found wrappers and empty pill packets and plenty of dust. The room was set on very hot which was a dangerous heat to sleep in. My private bathroom which was the reason for booking the room in the first place was a good way away from my room and the staff were both undertrained and very rude! Do yourself a favour and find a well equipped bus shelter instead I’m sure the passing bus drivers would actually talk to you instead of being derogatory!!

For what it was, it was fine with two exceptions. There was only a single thin blanket and pillow provided (and the room was a little chilly with no way to adjust the heat). Also, throughout the night, the pipes sounded like someone was banging on them with a hammer and so sleep was completely interrupted.

OVER 50? Find someplace else
Would have liked to know bathroom facilities down the hall rather than in the rented room. Got up from seep at 1:00 AM to go to the bathroom, and was locked out for 30 minutes until staff could get someone to give entry back to my room. I booked for two nights, but felt that seeping on an ar mattress at home was more favorable. Said for second night...checked out on time...inquired about a refund for second night and was told NO REFUNDS.
