I am taking the time to write a review because I do not want anyone to be as disappointed as we were due to our expectations not being met. I would go as far to say, ‘should be done under the trades description act.’ We were expecting quirky, boutique and authentic. The issues were as follows: 1. Not able to contact either accommodation or Expedia to get code as we were arriving early and needed access before 3pm to drop off heavy luggage. Fortunately other guests were leaving the property and gave us door code. 2. Description stated there was no lift and expected that room would not be ground floor, however Lahore room is at attic level with extremely narrow stair way. Near impossible if you are travelling with large cases. Staff were able to accommodate to different room but without any assistance to move luggage. 3. Pricing given by Expedia including tax $876.82 for 2 nights billed by Incentra Village Hotel $935.55. Tax increase and $50 housekeeping added to room charge of $379 per night. 4. Security was an issue as we tried to put valuables in the safe provided, requested batteries and told they don’t work. 5. The decoration in room was of an extremely poor standard, attempting to be aged but really just tired and poorly finished. 6. Cleanliness was poor for accommodation being charged to customers, dirt was visible on skirting boards, wood work, shower, toilet brush, rusting on radiators and flaking paint, windows. Positive: comfy bed, kitchenette, location.

Quirky place, eccentrically furnished. Location was great and the staff were terrificly friendly and helpful. Only problem would be if you struggle with stairs.

Dreadful. No one at hotel to let me in. AC made air unbreathable. AC light on saying “change filter”. Door didn’t lock!! Mngmt should have comped room 100% but didn’t. So filed a complaint.

I have stayed at Incentra on 8th avenue many times and never want to leave. It’s located in my favorite quiet part of the west village. Get coffee across the street at bonsinior. The small hotel staff is charming. It’s a beautiful old building but maintained with care. Each room has it’s own vintage vibe. Only possible issue is no elevator so if you are on a higher floor you will have to carry your bags. Enjoy!

The property is well located and clean. Once we were moved into a larger room the room itself was nice. I would not recommend the rooms in the sub sub basement, where we were first assigned. My only complaint about the room itself was that the outlets were so worn and loose that it was difficult to charge our phones. Also the stairways were extremely narrow and difficult to maneuver in. Overall, decent place to stay if you're looking for an inexpensive hotel in Greenwich Village.

We arrived early & were greeted by the kind front desk attendant Dawn who made us comfortable while Vincent prepped the room so we could check in early. A wonderful surprise in a small guest house. Everyone was helpful, warm & personable & the room was perfect for us! So handy to have a kitchenette & they provided coffee & half & half. I will def be back!

This hotel is in a perfect location. I liked the fresh white bed linens. The courtyard for the garden room is nice and quiet. I could open a window in the Garden room, but not in the Gaylord room. However, I am concerned about the violations to fire code. NO SPRINKLER HEAD OR ELECTRIC SMOKE DETECTORS. i took photos to record. The battery-operated smoke detector in second room lacked batteries. The staff were nice enough. I could better recommend Incentra after these fire safety adjustments were made...

I'll Be Back!
Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. The rooms are cute, clean, and comfortable. The location is great (subway nearby, multitude of restaurants within a few blocks) and I love that it is an historic property. I'll definitely be booking this property when I visit NYC again!

Loved loved loved! So cute, loved the history of the building and the antique furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. It didn't have amenities in that there aren't things like a gym, but the room was quiet, had a lovely bathroom, a kitchenette with coffee and tea, AC and a television. What more do you need? You're in the West Village - go outside! My only advice: If you're like me and your partner runs hot and you run cold and you end up stuck in a cold room, ask for an extra blanket because the room didn't have any.

A nice and charming hotel with very friendly staff. The only comments we have is that the airconditioning unit in the room was so dirty we had to clean the filters ourselves. It was also very loud and the fan could not be set on low speed. The ventilator in the bathroom didn't work and as the room was in the basement there were some black spots between the tiles on the wall. Despite those downsides we had a great stay.

Great neighborhood. And the woman who cleans and also takes care of the payment was nice. But the guest house is in poor condition and far too expensive for its state. The wooden railing in the stairway is loose, The furniture is not antique as advertised, just shabby and worn. Our bathroom had no ventilation at all, chipped bathtub, handle in the shower kept coming off, big stain (rust?) on shower curtain. Most of the times there is no one in the office. Guest letting frustrated other guest as well as delivery persons into the building after they keep ringing the bell. And there is a $50 cleaning fee added to the bill.

This was the second time staying at the property. This time, the handle in the shower came off and there was no hot water on Sunday. The staff was lovely and the room was very clean. Unfortunately, both the heat and A/C were on. Price was “reasonable”. Well located and private. Will likely book again if back in the area but might look elsewhere.

The hotel is a refurbished house in Greenwich Village. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and appear to be decorated in period furnishings. The neighborhood is safe and convenient to many restaurants.
