My experience was great. 6 min walk from Bourbon St and about a 10 min walk from Canal St. Tons of dining and bars nearby. Safe neighborhood. Clean hotel !!

Lovely property - amazing rooms ! Mr Gregory welcomed us ( and finally got paperwork sorted). Early walk in the area Interesting ( don’t look down look up) but had an amazing time in New Orleans and would stay here again as do central to everything.

Mr Gregory at the front desk was exceptional! He was very friendly and helpful with local places to eat and visit! Our shower wasnt working and he promptly gave us access to another shower and then the hotel fixed it first thing the next morning! The only down side we noticed was they emptied the dumpster at 2am and it was right outside one of our windows.

Amazing property, located next to a police station. Super convenient to walk to the quarter., gas station close by for essentials. St. Louis cemetery No1 was right outside our window. Great and amazing staff we will be returning!

The Brakeman Hotel is a great place to stay when visiting New Orleans! 4 block walk to Bourbon St/ French Quarter. Mr. Gregory is the man! He was very accommodating and gave excellent recommendations for food, jazz, bars, and entertainment!

Greatest little secret in New Orleans
This hotel was Amazing! The service from beginning to the end of my stay was A-1. The room was everything I expected and more. The bathroom was AMAZING! The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating! The reason I didn’t give this property a 5⭐️ review is because there wasn’t a microwave in the room. I definitely enjoyed all of my food experiences but, I always had leftovers and I had to eat them cold bc I had a fridge to prevent it from going bad but no way to reheat the food.

Loved this property! The Brakeman Hotel entrance also contained the Basin St. Station which is the city of New Orleans' welcome center with adjoining landscaped parking for visitors. The first floor contains a staffed visitor information center featuring educational community exhibits, a performance venue, a walking tour kiosk, and an authentically New Orleans and Louisiana gift shop! The first floor is not a traditional hotel lobby per se but guests have access to the building entrance with the use of their room key. This safety measure was very reassuring, especially after the doors are closed to the public in the late afternoon. Our deluxe room was very nice with a comfy king bed and a wonderful view overlooking St Louis Cemetery No.1 and looking towards the French Quarter.

All we could want in a hotel and more
We so enjoyed our stay at the Brakeman. The historical building was interesting and charming and we appreciated the attractive original building structural material incorporated in the decor: rough hewn timber columns and wooden railroad flooring in hallways. A railroad “museum” occupied the main floor. The rooms were so spacious, with elegant but comfortable decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful; 2 blocks from the heart of the French Quarter; very convenient and reasonable parking. All at a very reasonable price.
