Dirty beach, not enough recreation, no entertainment, expensive, hiding cost and some staff are very arrogant. But some are very polite & friendly. Hill top view is breathtaking

Beautiful hotel in the middle of nowhere. Monkeys roam the grounds. Waves on beach can be rough and walking distance to small village with one or two restaurants.

Building is a bit rundown which needs further maintenance. Checkin only allows cards with PIN number which slows down the process of checking in as we only use pay wave cards which doesn’t have PIN.

The conditions is not as par as the expensive price. The room is not clean as i noticed there is a lot of dust, rubbish and oily floor. And the most important is the room service. Not being honest. If you forget something in the room upon check out, do not hope to get ot back.

Room was okay. Neat and comfortable. Air-conditioning was cold and alright. A bit sandy inside the rooms and on the bed sheets but understandable as this is a beach resort. Checking in was quick and efficient. Checking out a bit messy because there's nobody to check who was queing up first at the counter awaiting our turns. Some guests just walked to the front and jumped queue without considering there are others before them. Counter staff did nothing to inform the impatient guests. Overall, a good and relaxing stay so the checkout part can be overlooked but definitely needs to improved.

Would return
Pleasant stay. Felt comfortable and safe as a solo traveller. Food: good choice of local and international dishes. Staff very helpful and attentive. Room a little tired around the edges.

Perfect place
Was a fine place, the staff was very friendly. A little dated, but everything was there that was needed. Breakfast was excellent, a great mix of western and local foods. Great escape from the city, and small but beautiful beach.

I like this property as It is in a good location with its own private beach and the sea & mountain view are very good. However, the property is old and needs updating. The standard of the breakfast is also not very good and it is going downhill compared to the last time I have been here.

Needs updating but nice location
We attended a wedding here which was beautiful, up at the hilltop section. The surrounding areas are stunning too. We had asked for help from reception to do with timings and were told the incorrect information which nearly made us miss the wedding. The room was spacious but smelt of smoke. The breakfast was good.

breakfast is the same menu for the 3 days we were there. room has musky smell. we were bitten by bed bugs on the last night. the surrounding trees and mount santubong, were the added bonus.

The room was great and is fill with full amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful.But when i reached the room, i realize the floor wasn't clean, i can still feel the sand and saw the tiny noodles chips left by the customer before,the TV remote has no battery and when i try to make a phone call to the reception, i noticed that the phone is out of service. Beside those, overall is nice, clealiness can be improved.

All staff in the resort are very polite and nice. However the room is old, some doors of the wardrobe, cupboard and glassdoor in bathroom are not in order. They need to repair it. If they repaint the wooden furniture, the room would be a very beautiful room. The beach is very superiority because the sand is quite white and soft.

Great beach but hotel needs improvements
We had a great 2 night stay at Damai Beach Resort. Beach is beautiful with fine-grained sand and water is warm (28-30C). Surprisingly there are no sun beds nor umbrellas on the beach. For many tourists that is expected and also for many Malaysians, who rather stay in the shadow, it would be useful. At the pool there are many sun beds but surprisingly no or very few umbrellas (parasols). When we asked the pool guy he said the CEO didn't want them as well as that it was a risk they would fly away because of wind. When we asked for one we got it but he repeated to make sure it didn't fly away. Even though the umbrellas are quite old they would be fine if you secure them with the screw at the bottom, which he didn't do. I did it myself and after that it was rock solid. The entire sun bed would have had to fly away before the umbrella did. So if you want more guests, get sun beds with umbrellas for the beach and more umbrellas at the pool.
