The World Tourism Organisation ranked Kuala Lumpur as the fifth most visited city in the world. Though there are apartments scattered around this very large city, the upmarket Bukit Bintang area, known as the entertainment and fashion epicentre, has the most tourist attractions and apartments in Kuala Lumpur. Tourists based in this part of KL are surrounded by alfresco cafés, upmarket bars, vibrant night markets and an impressive culinary heritage. There are numerous taxis and public transportation services connecting Bukit Bintang to the rest of Kuala Lumpur, including bus, MRT and LRT links.
There is a good selection of luxury and budget apartment options in this KL city. Guests wishing to prepare food in their apartment will require a stove top. Not all apartments have stovetops and other kitchen facilities; however, PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur, Ascott Kuala Lumpur, Swiss Garden Residences, Fraser Place Kuala Lumpur and Golden Triangle Suites By Mondo are all within the Bukit Bintang area and have apartment rooms with kitchenettes and stoves.
The family-friendly Maple Suite apartments in KL boasts a prime location in the heart of Bukit Bintang. The apartments are a 5 to 10 minute walk away from Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, Kuala Lumpur Tower and the famous food street Jalan Alor. The Petronas Twin Towers and bustling Petaling Street flea market are a ten-minute taxi ride. Despite this complex being situated in such a prime location, guests report that staying here is quiet and peaceful. All rooms feature a useful kitchenette with stovetop and a balcony perfect for taking in the city below.
There are some impressively spacious apartment hotels in Kuala Lumpur. The two- bedroom superior and deluxe suites at Maple Suite are particularly spacious. The extremely well appointed one- and two-bedroom suites at E&O Residences Kuala Lumpur are also particularly large, and guests can enjoy use of the onsite pool, as well as the fitness and conference centres.
More budget-conscious travellers can still enjoy apartment hotels in Kuala Lumpur, though these options are generally further away from the city centre. Capri by Fraser Kuala Lumpur is a 20- to 30-minute taxi ride from the Petronas Towers, but the cheapest deluxe studio rooms have balconies as well as being very comfortable and well-equipped. The lovely rooms in Somerset Ampang Kuala Lumpur are only a five-minute ride away and have comfortable sofas, microwaves, fridges and coffee/tea making facilities.
