Beautiful hotel with great views
We absolutely loved the hotel! Because it’s up a bit the views were incredible but it was also so quick to walk into town and to the beaches. I highly recommend staying here and absolutely suggest using their coordinated transportation if flying into Krabi.

Beautiful hotel for a great price ! Stay here !
We loved this hotel. Surrounded by the karst mountains & jungle with a view of the ocean, what more could you ask for. The cabins, pool, and free breakfast was great. We got to watch monkeys while eating. The service at the pool bar was really good. The loungers were usually full & the ones on the deck in front of the bar need to be replaced. The shuttle back from the beach was hit & miss but it’s not a long walk. I loved Railay and would definitely stay at this hotel again. Can’t beat the price !

If you want to stay in the area with the best view of the ocean and a quiet people free area- this is it! The pool alone with its happy hour of drinks 100 bth was incredible! The location is perfectly in-between both beaches with the view of the East beach. It was so easy to walk everywhere in the area.The rock mountain next to the resort is stunning, while providing entertainment as people climb it. The service was wonderfully, we were greeted with a welcome drink and offered complimentary ride to our room. The morning breakfast was always delicious and the staff so kind. I recommend this for any solo, couple, or family. We LOVED our time! My partner and I also went end of October which was perfect weather with not as many tourist crowding the areas. Well done!

Looks can be deceiving
At a first glance, I was really excited about this place, but negatives kept adding up. We had a very loud baby right next to us that cried all night (not the hotel's fault), but they didn't have ear plugs. They instead offered to move us rooms when one became available (2 nights later), so 2 nights not sleeping at the hotel we paid for out of 4 nights. Our new room had a very unfortunate balcony and room layout. If people wanted to stand and look at the jungle, they were also looking into our balcony/room. During our morning coffee on the balcony, we had a couple stop on the public walkway and comment about things in our room. Complete lack of privacy for anyone unfortunate enough to get that room. Next, we went hiking to the Lagoon and I got dirt on my legs and hands, so after I showered, there was a slight bit of residue on the hand towel as well as a smudge of mascara, of which I was charged for- so don't plan on using the towels for anything other than a pre-cleaned body - or bring your own. The private transfer we paid for (1700 baht) was significantly more expensive than getting it anywhere else, but got us to the airport in the end. We were with another couple but they refused to let us share the transfer. The whole way to the airport we followed our friends, wasiting fuel with multiple boats, tuk tuks and transfer vans that were completely unnecessary. The tuk tuk from the boat to the transfer van also couldn't fit our luggage and us so we had to walk to the vans.

Overall disappointing. We sent two emails confirming with the resort that we had a direct pick up booked from Krabi Airport to the resort, organised by them, but when our flight landed we had nobody waiting to pick us up. After calling the resort multiple times from the airport and being stressed and not understanding anything the person on the phone was saying, they finally realised they made a mistake and somebody came to pick us up an hour later. We saw a lady at the airport pay the taxi driver taking us to the pier 300 baht but we were charged 800 baht for this, and also over 700 baht for the long tail boat transfer which is actually normally only 150 baht when you book yourself!! When we finally got to the resort, we asked for a discount considering they forgot to organise a taxi to pick us up and made us wait for an hour, but we still had to pay 1700 baht total!! Such a scam and waste of money. The resort, pool bar and daily breakfast were nice and the staff at the breakfast were lovely. However, our bathroom in our room was pretty disgusting for the price we paid. The shower was yuck and the toilet seat was broken. We also found a cockroach in our room one night. We didn’t get coffee or water refilled like it’s supposed to by room service after the second night. Also, it’s a good 20 minute uphill walk from the beach and restaurant area and the shuttle service isn’t reliable. I would definitely not come here again and would not recommend anyone else to either.

The location was lovely and we enjoyed being close to, but not surrounded by, the restaurants and shops. The pool area is very nice and the pool view is divine. We booked the transport service from the airport, and we were so glad we did! Nice cab ride, followed by long tail boat, followed by tractor pulling a trailer where we and our luggage arrived to the resort. It was an awesome introduction to the area! The only negatives were the pillows were not very comfortable, and the pool towels were in short supply. That didn’t really cause hardship, more of an inconvenience. Oh, one more thing, the breakfast was great too! There were lots of choices in the buffet and you could order eggs or pancakes as well. My favorites were the banana pancakes and the curry option in the buffet. It is an incredible value.

Fantastic hilltop views. Nice pool. Not the most exciting breakfast but have some choices between western and Thai. Golf cart transport until 9 pm but arrange well ahead of time for arrival. Nice clientele of fellow travelers. Ask for room 2304 with views of the ocean and mountains.

A little touch of paradise
This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Phutawan hotel in Railay. The location is great, service is always great but we were sad to see they had made some revisions on areas such as breakfast where there were not so many options from the buffet. However we did notice you could order certain things for breakfast off another menu which was nice and overall it is still great. We recommend the French toast and banana pancakes those were delicious. In terms of room the first time we stayed on the main hotel with a balcony and sea view which was amazing pre pandemic, this time we stayed in a deluxe cottage. The cottage was cute, clean comfortable and had its own balcony, the first cottage we were taken to needed a little TLC (such as bathroom window lock broken, front door crack stuffed with tissue I presume this was to stop mosquitos from another guest) so we politely asked to see if we could move to another. The staff were very understanding and took us to look at a few other deluxe cottages which were well maintained and beautiful so we had a wonderful stay with lots of room. Highly rate this hotel as it had everything you need but sad to see they had removed the raised platforms with bean bags which use to be on the viewing platform - we missed those as it added a romantic and bohemian element we hope they bring them back. They also have a free shuttle service down to the walking street too which is great and super useful when you have to bring back packs or suitcases.

Beautiful place with amazing views. The transfer from the boat to the hotel is by tractor and trailer and collects you in the sea! Pool area lovely, staff friendly. You’d struggle to swing a cat in the bathroom and breakfast options a bit limited, but would recommend overall.

I really loved this hotel. It was up in the mountains and gave us an incredible view of the water and even the sunrise. Breakfast was nice - and we gotta sit outside and it was very pretty. The pool was very relaxing as well with a great view. Our room was accommodating - we had to squeeze 3 people in a room but it worked well for us. I wish they would change the pillows- they are firm and extremely big and thick - so you couldn't really lay down with them. I slept with my airplane neck pillow. Other than that I cannot recommend this place enough. Ir really was so beautiful and an easy walk from everything. They also offer rides down and if you call- a ride back up. But it really wasn't a bad walk from either beach.

The view is absolutely amazing from the infinity pool and our oceanfront room. I loved the breakfast, pool, the natural beauty surrounding the entire hotel, and the staff! They went above and beyond. We had to leave at 5:30 am to catch a flight (reception opens at 6 and breakfast starts even later) and they were not only there to check us out at 5:30, but had breakfast to go and even gave us a ride to the pier. Thank you for a beautiful visit. We will return!

Nice view with a great pool and bar area. The rooms was in good condition and clean. The only thing that I disliked was that the cocktails were a bit overpriced compared to other bars in the area.

This was our favorite hotel in Thailand. Amazing pool, even better view, wonderful staff. Clean, nice well taken care of rooms. Only thing that would make it better would be a new bathroom as others have mentioned but it really doesn't take away from the experience.

Love the walk here each day, passing the monkeys as they play in the trees! The grounds are beautiful, rooms have everything you need, the pool and bar area boast stunning views!
