The check-in experience for someone who is used to excellent customer service in US, was just mediocre. We checked in pretty late around 11 pm. The gentleman who helped us did not put any extra effort to make us feel welcome. No offers of water whatsoever. He insisted on putting a credit card on file, repeatedly, even when I mentioned that it was late and we would like to go to my room after a very long flight.
The staff at the restaurants, janitorial staff, porters etc. are very nice. I loved interacting with them.
The breakfast and the in room dining were good and we really enjoyed the variety of food.
The staff at the reception completely ignored us and any requests we made. Toilet paper arrived in 2 hours, after three calls to the reception.
However, the worst part of the stay was that two nights before we are scheduled to check-out, we receive a call at 10 pm from Mr. Faisal at the reception asking for feedback on the stay. That was really in very bad taste. I requested to speak to the manager the following morning but that did not materialize. I am disappointed that such a pricey place could not exhibit basic decency in dealing with their guests. This has most certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.
I travel via Kolkata very often due to work, but will not be returning here.
