Excellent Hotel
Could not fault this Hotel. We were upgraded to a suite. Our flight from Sydney was delayed 24 hours and we were well within our free cancellation time but without charge they moved our reservation to the next night. Archie the concierge was the best! Thank you Michelangelo.

Very convenient hotel
I have been back 3 times now, always enjoy the Michelangelo, the area around the Mandela Square are just great for shopping and dining. One issue that must be addressed and that is the very poor toilette flush. ZA has extreme water issues yet a leading hotel cannot sort out a decent toilet flush and this with 'one flush'

One of the best hotels I've stayed at
One of the best hotels I have stayed at. The position is great on Nelson Mandela square linking with Sandton City shopping complex. 5 minute walk from the Gautrain that takes you to the O. R Tambo international airport. The rooms are spacious and have an old world charm. The facilities including the gym and indoor pool are impressive. BUT the most impressive thing about this hotel is the staff. Friendly, efficient and helpful. It's worth going back just for them

We booked a room for two inclusive of Breakfast @ £220. The Hotel is a very high standard and based on a previous stay I wanted to take my wife. The hotel staff are very amenable. We had two points that disappointed us; 1. Limited Wifi Data as free Wifi 2. Breakfast room was full and had breakfast in main bar area. No breakfast menu was offered.

Was disappointed to have a small cap on data on the free Wifi. At the price per room reasonable data allowance should be given as standard.

Excellent Location, old stylish hotel!
2 nights on a promotion at this hotel....thank God as I do not think is worth more than US$250/night! Great location within the sandton city retail paradise. BIG and comfy room with free good wifi. Gym was OK but really the aerobic equipment must be renewed, they are below the supposed standards of the hotel! Great breakfast. I was really not impressed by the service at the hotel though: e.g. - check-in was too long; at the check out, no more concierge to help with the luggage; you actually have to ask to be served at the breakfast area..... Still, one should try this landmark "luxury" hotel at least once in Jozie!

Bit Disappointing
I have stayed at the Michelangelo before and had a fantastic time and decided to go back. This time however I was let down. I was given a room for a wheelchair which wasnt requested. I then moved to a smaller room and finally 3rd time lucky I received the room I paid for. I was them charged R4000.00 & had to call to request my money back as I had paid in fulll for the room. Next time will give it a miss and have let my Colleagues know, who also frequent the hotel that it was dissappointing overall. The Concierge was fantastic as always

It was nice stay but when I went to the airport with the taxi car that was provided by the hotel, the taxi driver took advantage of the stuation and charged me after he droped me too much which was R700, and I've to pay to catch my flight.

Great Place
Staff was super friendly. Wifi was a bit of a pain at first, but then it worked very well. Breakfast was good.

relaxing after a 2 week vacation around Africa
the hotel was lovely and is centrally located/linked to both the NM Mall and Sandton Center which was great (although the stores are too uppity for the normal folks :)). There were plenty of food options and we felt safe in the area. The concierge Archie was lovely!! they also had a spa and prices are extremely reasonable right now. the only downfall to the hotel was that their AC was undergoing maintenance - we weren't advised and even went to reception to get maintenance only to have maintenance call us just as frustrated as reception wasn't informing customers. they offered nothing for the inconvenience and it was very warm overnight!

Excellent position
The walk up from the Gautrain was a bit of a challenge because of roadworks. Check was easy as usual, the room very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Snacks at the bar were yummy. We were able to get a late check out, and always very comfortable leaving our luggage there whilst waiting for our flight. They gave us a lift back to the train. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great place!!!!
I highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed in many hotels round the world but this one takes the cup. It is flawless from service to amenities. It is situated in the perfect place, walking distance to nelson Mandela square where there is so many restaurants, cafes and shops. Safe area and next to train. 5 stars across the board

Over-Rated and a bit Pretentious
This was the last hotel we stayed at the last night of our 21 days S. African vacation and our least favorite of all the places. Location was good as it was nearby to family whom reside near Sandton, but the hotel was nothing near the 5 star rating it advertises. It's a bit out dated and somewhat pretentious. My iPhone health app recorded me taking over 14,000 steps the night we stayed because of where the elevators are situated vs where our rooms were (PS. I'm 105lbs). They only offer 1GB of free Wifi anything more is for a fee. Didn't feel "homey" as it seemed like it was all a facade.

Pleasant hotel
Enjoyable stay. The Hotel Restaurant really deserve a try, but if looking for less fancy the Hotel connect to the Nelson Mandela Square that give a whole lot of options.

I had the best stay in a long time everyone was super friendly towards a solo getaway person and they bent over backwards to make sure I was ok. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly go again.
