Unethical and unprofessional staff. STAY AWAY!
Very unprofessional and unethical staff. I had made my reservation days prior to my arrival and had made accommodation plans to stay at this pousada. At first they contacted me via hotels.com requesting my WhatsApp (used mainly in Brazil). Then they asked me to confirm all of my information via the messaging app, which I though was very odd. No place on earth had I ever been asked to confirm my hotel information this way. Anyhow, I provided all the information they requested and my check-in was supposed to be after 3pm. The canceled my reservation via WhatsApp for no reason after providing them my information. I was told they didn't have any staff at the hotel to check me in. Which is absurd because this was around 4pm. So they left me in the dirt. I had a very hard time finding last minute bookings because it was during a holiday weekend and the available places that I found were either very far or expensive. When I contacted hotels.com about the issue I wasn't given a solution. They contacted the Pousada and they lied saying that I didn't check-in properly. What does that even mean? They canceled my reservation prior to my arrival. It was useless trying to fight with the Pousada and hotels.com. But I won't be doing business with them again and I advise everyone to stay away, unless you're ok with dealing with unforeseen situations.
