I would say, though, that if you are booking through Expedia or hotels.com or any other such discount service, they will put you in a very inconvenient, unrenovated room and provide no services. My room was the furthest room on the top floor, very cold with heating that worked...

The room and private bath were so beautiful. We ordered the Japanese dinner and breakfast and it is a must if you stay here! You’ll try foods authentic to Nara specifically and the amount you receive is more than plenty. Would highly recommend this stay to anyone even for just one night, as that is what we did to relax...
