The public areas of this hotel were fantastic. The guest rooms could use some attention. Stained carpet- needs to be heavily cleaned or replaced. The breakfast was wonderful!

On arrival at the property, we were told that we did not have reservations for two rooms, but only one. i showed them my Expedia receipt and confirmation listing two rooms for three nights each. The receptionist stated that they did have one room for three nights, but not two rooms and they didn’t care what my Expedia receipt said. After a bit of conversation, she did suggest that maybe they could have an additional room available for one night instead of the three booked and at a rate of $558 per night instead of $228 per night with the possibility of extending our stay at the higher rate. But the extension was not guaranteed. With this type of greeting and service, I’ll fully reevaluate the possibility of our staying at this property in the future.

Such a lovely hotel right in the centre of Christchurch and yet completely quiet. We stayed in another hotel the night before which was noisy - didn't get much sleep! I recommend Novatel!

Beautiful Christchurch
We enjoyed our time in Christchurch. The city is beautiful and the hotel is in an ideal place to experience the city. We enjoyed many wonderful activities and the restaurant district is exceptional. The city has made marvelous strides in overcoming the devastation they experienced from the earthquakes in 2010 and 2011

The property itself is wonderful, very close to the Cathedral under construction and other landmarks, shopping and botanical gardens. Problem: told upon checkout there was a 10% extra fee which I was not at all happy with. Tell me the price and I will choose or not.

Excellent hotel - great location - walkable to central business district (Riverside Market and New Regent Street), modern room decor, good sized tv with chromecast, great bathroom as well. Phenomenal breakfast to enjoy if included in the hotel price. Only dampeners are - a) handheld shower in our room was not able to be fastened at a height, so those who didn't want their hair to get wet suffered; but the overhead/rainhead shower was a delight for all others. b) the cathedral is under construction, and is right next to the hotel, so when you first get in, you feel that the surrounding environment is hampered - but then again, keep in mind that Christchurch is still recovering from the 2011 earthquake.

Definitely not worth it
The bed and sheets were fantastic great sleep. BIGGEST LETDOWN the bathroom has very slippery floors my partner slipped bruised her leg and hand. We reported that to the staff at NO stage did she show any care never asked my partner if she was OK.... She said she will let the duty manager know about the incedent if she did or not I don't know NO one from management contacted us to even just see if my partner was ok. For the what they are charging per night to the level of customer care this hotel needs urgent restructuring and staff training is just simple care for customers.
