Firstly, as pointed out in various TripAdvisor reviews, they will apparently lie and tell you the card machine is broken and that you must pay in cash. I'm pretty certain they're just deliberately using the machine wrongly to give you this impression -- not least because shortly afterwards I returned and (lo and behold!) somebody else was paying by card. I paid in cash [make sure you get a receipt!] which I was forced to go and get from a machine nearby. I assume this is for an accounting dodge.
Also, there is a fair amount of noise, both from other rooms (thin walls), and from a very nearby night club.
The food in the restaurant upstairs is good though, and the rooms are fairly comfortable. (Put out the notice if you want the room cleaned.) AC kept the room at a nice temperature, there was a fridge for drinks inc. the free water, and it was under 15 minutes walk from the Taj for me at least.
All in all, the checkout procedure left a bad taste in my mouth, because I feel I was treated with incredible disrespect, but the stay itself was generally fairly pleasant.
