The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, however the elevators were incredibly slow and you can hear the bathroom being used in the apartment next door, that is shower running, toilet flushing etc. It is a great location for dining, shopping and transport and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Easy walk to Rundell Mall and surrounds. Excellent room condition and amenities. (1514) Everything was in working order and the room was well appointed and spacious. Staff were all helpful and polite. Room was very well serviced during our stay. La Boca restaurant wait staff were not pleasant and we did not enjoy our dinner at this restaurant.

The best feature of this hotel is its location that’s really convenient to the festival centre. Great for the Adelaide Festival. The room was fine and spacious but the shower pressure was terrible.

A very central and nice property. Spacious and Clean rooms with a good view. Check in Procedures seem to be a bit onerous and slow in this day and age of fast check ins. But otherwise the stay was excellent. The hotel car park was full so we had to park in the one directly behind it, which was about a 5 min walk.

Overall, this hotel falls short of a 5-star standard. If it were rated as such, I'd only give it 2 stars. However, if we consider it a 3-star hotel, I'd be inclined to give it a 4 or even 5 stars. Having spent three nights here and another three nights in a nearby 3-star hotel on the same street, I must say that the 3-star option is quite comparable to this supposed 5-star in terms of rooms (cleanliness/facilities/conditions) and service. On a positive note, the breakfast buffet is quite impressive and worth pre-purchasing. The hotel has three lifts, but unfortunately, they are not very reliable. During my stay, they broke down twice. It seems the lifts can't quite handle the volume of guests. A bit of a letdown is the advertisement for the superior king room being suitable for three adults. In reality, it's not, and you'll be required to pay for an extra bed. It's worth mentioning that I stayed in a 4-star hotel in Sydney prior to this, and I didn't have to pay for an extra bed when I requested it during my booking. Another inconvenience is the malfunctioning lights in the room, necessitating the need to request an extra light.

Staff were all accommodating and more than helpful. The hotel itself is definitely ageing and the pool area and some aspects of the rooms that are stuck in the 90s, could use an upgrade. Not a big deal though, as the accommodation from staff more than made up for it. The fact that the hotel room windows can be opened to allow for ventilation has been noted. It's unpleasant being stuck in a room with stuffy air for a week. The complimentary breakfast was a great drawcard and it is gratefully welcomed when on holiday.

If there were to be an example of tired and old accommodation in Adelaide, it would be the Stamford Plaza. I have stayed here a lot over the years, but our recent stay was some years after the last time. We thought we'd try it again as it is close to the Festival Theatre where we were seeing Miss Saigon and it came up at a really good price. The location on North Terrace should come with some grandeur, opposite the State Parliament and the redeveloped SkyCity Casino precinct. It's also only a short walk to Rundle Mall and down through to Adelaide Oval. Now, it looks rundown, dirty and very much unloved on the outside. The King room we had was comfortable and clean but looked old as well, much like I remember it from years ago. The two parts of our stay worth mentioning that were excellent were the gym and the buffet breakfast. The worst part of our stay, though, was the lifts. There are three, and at no point did it seem like they were all running. The wait times were crazy. A few times, we were in lifts that were completely full because people were getting sick of waiting so long for a lift to arrive. In my opinion, this is a real issue and must be looked at. Any highrise accommodation needs to have an efficient and quick means of moving their guests around. Waiting is not what people want to do while on holiday or business trips. Overall, it was an average to good stay. I feel sorry for Stamford Plaza because it used to be one of the best in the CBD area.

I like the location and nearby facilities. I think the couch is very uncomfortable coz it does not reclines. I think the TV needs updating.

Property is tired. Aircon in the room was rubbish. Couldn’t control the temp. Fan was on full and noisy. Manager advised it was set by hotel and can’t be touched. Won’t stay there again

Was very disappointed with check-in. tried three times to access room, and had to wait for cleaning. Also did not like shower over the bath, would have preferred walk-in. Usually stay at Glenelg, will do that next time!

This is a 3 star hotel at best. It was clean. The lifts are very slow and it takes a long time. The room aircon had a mind of its own, we certainly had 2 nights where the room was 26c and quite uncomfortable. Overall this place is old and needs to brought into this century.
