Best part is friendly and competent staff. Excellent breakfast. Refreshments by the pool nice - quiet, cool, secluded. Downside is that the old part of the hotel smells of cigarettes - leaks - a little moldy. New wing much better.
I was touched - I was under the weather and in bed when the maid came to make up the room. I answered the door and said not to bother. A few minutes later the front desk called and asked if I was ok and wanted anything!

We - a couple of over 70, enjoyed our stay.
There are two WelcomHeritage properties on the same street, but the hub is the Inn, which is where you have to go to check in and to eat. The Pousada a couple of properties away is the nicer of the two for sleeping. It's quiet and all the rooms radiate off a very nice atrium with some artwork. The rooms all have to be padlocked from the outside when you're out and bolted on the inside when you're in, which worried me a bit in case of an emergency. The padlock key has to be inserted inside the room socket to turn on the power. The furniture and styling is very old and at first glance is a bit off putting, but in fact, it's actually quite quaint. There was 4 poster bed in my Pousada room and a very large bathroom. The room has a desk and chair, but they're small and very uncomfortable. The only other place to sit is on the bed. They provide tea, coffee and free bottled water. For breakfast, you have to go next door to the Inn, where unfortunately, the eating area is outside. You'll thus be sharing your breakfast with 1,000,000,000 flies. They crawl over everything, including the plates, knives and cups waiting to be used and that really, really turned me off. The breakfast food selection isn't great, but it certainly isn't bad. They only have instant coffee though.
Good things 1st:
Great location for work, play & shop!!
Neat comfortable rooms. Good breakfast, great service liked it!! Morning staff very friendly & helpful .
Now the BAD things:
Room 305 has rats in the false ceeling. (Room changed the next day) Night staff should learn to be courteous. Bad laundry service, & expensive. Hotel should keep loud guests in check. No hotel restaurant.
There's a distinctly European atmosphere in the state capital of Goa, a remnant from when Portugal ruled the area. Portuguese architecture abounds, with red-tiled roofs and balconied buildings, and the hustle and bustle of Indian cities gives way to a more laid-back atmosphere. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is a popular attraction, along with the area's famed beaches.
