Indian travelers who are heading to Thailand on vacation for the first time may benefit from a new mobile application that was recently unveiled by the country's Tourism Authority (TAT). It is available for use on smartphones like the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, as well as other devices like the iPad and iPod touch.
In an effort to boost tourism and Thai presence in the digital world, TAT has created "Amazing Thailand," which allows users to navigate the country and find tips from other travelers, among other features.
The app's main features include a list of the top 10 destinations in Thailand and tips on places to go and things to see, information on local festivals and other current events, and the ability to share one's travel experience via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. "Amazing Thailand" is also a location-based service, which uses the phone's GPS feature to help visitors navigate to certain tourist attractions.
TAT's new app has gained traction on its social media networks, achieving more than 12,000 fans on its Facebook page.
