Thai travel groups meet to discuss future of tourism
Posted on Friday 08 June 2012
Officials from some of Thailand's leading tourism organisations recently met for the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) conference to discuss the country's future in the hospitality sector. Many speakers shared their ideas for new advertising campaigns and where they would be focusing their efforts in the future to entice more global visitors.
"Customise Your Experience" is Thailand's new travel slogan
A new focus for this year is appealing to the niche tourism market, which allows travellers with specific needs and preferences to choose their own itineraries and get the most out of their holiday abroad. Whether Indian travellers are in the baby boomer demographic, planning gay holidays or taking a honeymoon, Thailand tourism officials want to provide each individual with information and options on seeing this vibrant country.
"One of the reasons we chose the logo, ‘Customise Your Experience’ as this year’s marketing campaign is because we’re re-focusing our strategy to attract niche market visitors, creating a personalised holiday experience that’s truly unforgettable," said Juthaporn Rerngronasa, deputy governor for international marketing at TTM+. "Our marketing strategy for 2012 will focus on enhancing Thailand’s brand image and promote sustainable tourism. Through the utilisation of modern marketing concepts we will be able to enhance the experience of our visitors and continue to re-enforce concepts like value for money and generous hospitality."
Reasons to visit Thailand on holiday
The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) recently released statistics about the future of Thai travel. This year, the number of tourists expected to visit the country is likely to increase by roughly 4 percent, which may put Thailand at the one billion mark when it comes to overall foreign guests.
Not only does Thailand have a wealth of attractions, cultural centres, spiritual temples and seasonal events, Indian travellers may also find this destination to be wallet-friendly and accessible. This year, the Future Brand Country Index announced that Thailand was number one when it comes to affordable travel locales.
When Indian tourists are looking for an affordable and exotic holiday trip abroad, Thailand can be a viable option. For more information, travellers can visit the Tourism Authority Thailand's revamped website, which features new videos and fun facts to help guests plan their getaways.
