Despite financial concerns felt across the world in the wake of
the recent global recession, many travel providers across Asia and
Oceana continue to post positive numbers for the beginning of the
fiscal year. One of the countries benefitting most from this
upswing is Thailand, as the number of travelers taking Bangkok holidays exploded in the first half
of 2010.
The Travel Daily News is reporting that international visitors to
Thailand for the first half of the year were up 13.7 percent over
the previous year's showing. These statistics, which come courtesy
of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, claim that more than 7.5
million international visitors came to the Southeast Asian nation
in the first six months of the year.
Analysts claim that the improvement is likely related to the easing
economic and political tensions both in Thailand and abroad.
While numbers were up across the board, the big winner of the first
half off the year was Phuket, where an undisclosed bulk of the
travel centered, according to the news provider.
