Over the past several years, India's tourism industry has
undergone significant growth as everyone from westerners headed on
Mumbai holidays to local travelers eyeing
weekend getaways in Goa took to the skies to
explore the beautiful country. Those international tourists looking
for a winning destination to kick off their Indian vacation may
want to begin in the Western Indian state of Gujarat, where the
local Tourism Department has been named the best in the country by
Safari India.
A well-read magazine focusing on regional areas such as India,
Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Safari India chose Gujarat for its
continued and professional efforts to court travelers both locally
and abroad, drawing thousands of travelers to the relatively
unknown region.
In his letter announcing the win, Safari's editorial advisor Mittra
Shri Sagar Ahluwalia highlighted the region's work with local
hotels, airline providers and local attractions.
The award will be presented next month at the Tourism Leader's
Conclave and Commonwealth Games. Other areas whose tourism efforts
will also be celebrated include Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir,
according to OrrissaDiary.com.
